California's restrictions on houses of worship are proving to be costly.

The state in recent days agreed to pay $1.6 million in attorney’s fees to settle a lawsuit filed by South Bay United Pentecostal Church. It also agreed to pay $550,000 in attorney’s fees to settle a lawsuit filed by a Catholic priest, Father Trevor Burfitt.

All total, the state of California owes $2,150,000 in the two cases that were filed by the Thomas More Society.

“Plaintiffs should be and hereby are declared prevailing parties,” U.S. District Judge Cynthia Bashant wrote, referencing South Bay United Pentecostal Church.

Thomas More Society applauded the settlements, saying it means “religious liberty triumphs.”…

This settlement is great news for religious liberty. The courts have finally vindicated that religious observances are essential services. The fact that the state has to pay legal fees shows how off base it’s leadership was. The blue state and cities war on churches and religious observances has been fully rebuked.

The hate filled anti religious bigotry against religion and religious believers of the blue city mayors and blue state governors is at last being repudiated. Never again.

Did they happen to shut down any mosques? I would bet they didn't Democrats sure seem to love hating on Christianity recently but they sure do give Islam a total pass. Turns out they're bigotry is kind of expensive to the taxpayer. Too bad it's not coming out of their own damn pocket but they think twice then

Good day for the lawyers. For the others, not really a big win. Some bells cannot be un-rung with time being so boringly linear and all.

Ridiculous, people framed for crimes who spend decades in prison don’t get that much, but having mass via zoom?

Mosques and BLM riots are not? This is entirely political and you know it.

mosques were included, as for riots, those are criminals, they were not following the laws, any more than the insurrectionists Trump sent to the Capital

Trump sent no one into the capitol. Those who did that preplanned it well in advance of his speech. He urged everyone to be peaceful in his speech.

What a pile of nonsense "hate filled anti religious bigotry" . Get a grip on your brain - sounds worse than the anti Jew trope.

Clearly there were legitimate reasons for restrictions due to the "Pandemic" - which had nothing to do with religious hate or bigotry any more than all the restaurants that had to close.

Whether or not we agree with these restrictions is another matter - but to call this "religious bigotry" is nonsense.

There were initially when we didn’t know fully what we were dealing with. That quickly faded as the bigotry and hate set in and blue leaders treated religious observance differently than every other kind of comparable gathering. Remember when mayors sent their law enforcement in to ticket and break up parking lot services where the pastor was in the church and all the members were in their own cars listening on an fm radio frequency? Meanwhile those cars were ok in the Walmart parking lot or at the weed or liquor store or sin a fast food drive through, anywhere but church, mosque, or synagogue. We will never forget that.

So after not paying any taxes & refusing to abide by basic safety guidelines, churches have found a new way to fleece the taxpayer.

I give them one thing, they are determined to make as much money as possible, jets don’t come cheap I guess.
