Not much of a prophecy nowadays when taken literally. Why does anyone take these old & clearly inaccurate texts seriously today? A: because of superstitious mind f**king. What bearing does a dream of a utopian future for some ancient Middle Eastern kingdom have on Germany or the USA today? Other than possibly some good general ideas, doodley squat! Quit worshiping an ancient tribal god from an unrelated ancient culture already..

Immanuel Kant some thousand years later said somehow nearly the same. Another example: The Tribunal against leading Nazis in Nürnberg is also a part of this way or the International Court of Justice in Den Haag. Nevertheless you - not I - was using the words from this prophecy - I reconstructed only the context.

It is very unscientific to discard the obvious Sociology that predicts conditions to manifest in the future which is exactly what the scientific Method uses in the present hadr sciences.

If we grant that the ancients where merely Sociologists, insisting that from observation of current Human Behavior various long term consequences could be enumerated specifically, then these things we call prophecy are just experimental outcomes we await in the future to verify the theories being used.

The common belief that ine can not tell the future is now not quite so reasonable as attitude itself.

In light of the work done recently by Bueno de Mesquita in regard to his computer program that predicts consequences to present situations and diplomacy.

Can a fringe branch of mathematics forecast the future?
A special adviser to the CIA, Fortune 500 companies, and the U.S. Department of Defense certainly thinks so.
Bruce Bueno de Mesquita claims that mathematics can tell you the future.

In fact, the professor says that a computer model he built and has perfected over the last 25 years can predict the outcome of virtually any international conflict, provided the basic input is accurate. What's more, his predictions are alarmingly specific. His fans include at least one current presidential hopeful, a gaggle of Fortune 500 companies, the CIA, and the Department of Defense.

Why? You don't like being shown repeatedly where your argument fails and your understanding of Catholic teaching lacks? You are welcome to stop communicating, but it seems weird that you are so easily ruffled. Especially since we agree about the death penalty at about 99.9%. Whatever....

I don't agree with you and your teachings. Specially I do not agree with any argument of anyone on this planet who likes to say Jesus died a glorious death and because he was a victim of death penalty god made death penalty glorious. What an unbelieveable nonsense. God shared the worst and most evil situation with us when he suffered a painful death as an innocent victim of death penalty. Death penalty is evil - not good. And I also don't have any idea what you are thinking about pessah and why you set this very important demonstration of the freedom of the children of god in relation to death penalty. Obscure. Absurde. And I will not start now to discuss with you - or anyone else - about right and/or wrong [views on the] teachings of the catholic church. To say "death penalty is wrong, but ..." is in my eyes as wrong as death penalty is wrong itselve. Short and clear: Death penalty is a wrong way. Death penalty is wrong.

Some people just can't handle having alternate viewpoints expressed in their vicinity.

I think you have serious issues with the nuances of the English language. You are so wrong on what I said concerning the Death of Jesus that it is profoundly mind-numbing-and if you are Catholic but do not accept th teaching authority of the Church (per the Catechism)...well...good luck with that.

Whatever--you obviously are nearing a stroke, so ....peace be with you

You are not my peace you are making me angry - very angry. One tribe of my ancestors were Bavarians who were since ever Christians and the other tribe of my ancestors were Jews who were since ever Jews. And I never was a member of the world of your english speaking american supernationalism who has to defend death penalty without having any plan about why he is doing what he is doing. Jesus died an ugly dead. He - true god from true god - was born as a bastard and died as a criminal on a roman cross - the sign of the unpriviliged. This all has absolutelly nothing to do with "glorius". Every bastard and every criminal is much more in my near than you are in my near - and the more you like to play to be an authority within the catholic church the more you are far from any catholic position in the all coordinates of the catholic belief[es]. Death Penalty is evil - nothing is harmless in this context - nothing is glorious in this context. Death penalty is a shame for the whole mankind and every single human being.

There is no reason for a discussion forum to make you "very angry." There must be something else piquing your emotions.

    This is irrelevant.

This is apparently your personal bias.

I have made a clear and specific point about when I believe the death penaltyMAY be morally justified. It was an EXTREMELY narrow set of circumstances and clearly defined.

Yes--He did. And my point about that was that NOTHING heinous that we creatures do can undermine the sovereignty of God and the glorious good that he can bring about out of what is seemingly the most tragic and horrific of circumstances. There is no Resurrection without Christ's Death on the Cross.

EXCEPT that he ROSE FROM THE DEAD--and redeemed mankind's fallen nature.

Do you not hold the Catecism of the Catholic Church an authoritative document on Catholic belief? It is not a publication of "american supernationalism"--it was promulgated by Pope John Paul II from the Vatican. And, the Catechism CLEARLY says, 2267 Assuming that the guilty party's identity and responsibility have been fully determined, the traditional teaching of the Church does not exclude recourse to the death penalty, if this is the only possible way of effectively defending human lives against the unjust aggressor.

The above is a direct link to the Vatican's website.

For the most part, I agree with that, but as noted, 1) in an unstable society, it MIGHT be morally justified in a very limited set of circumstances, and 2) God DEFEATED all death through the Passion and Sacrifice of Jesus' suffering of the death penalty, and so GOD'S Gloriousness was more greatly revealed through the evil of the death penalty.

    Parturiunt montes, nascetur ridiculus mus

    Bye bye, "Catholic"

PS: Death penalty is a wrong way on lots of reasons - not only christian reasons. Death penalty is for example not only completly superflous but also completly counterproductive for criminal activities. To live in a country without death penalty is much more comfortable. Did I say "Death penalty is wrong!"? Hope so!

You are paradoxing yourselve. I know my own religion very well. Quaeris, quare te fuga ista non adiuvet? Tecum fugis. Oh by the way: Did I tell you that death penalty is wrong? Not? Then I forgot to say "Death penalty is wrong". An unforgivable mistake. But I can correct it: "Death penalty is wrong." That's what I like to say and that's what I say.
