All of the experts say the incumbent was hated personally and he ran a bad campaign. His campaign had no money.

The Democrat candidate campaigned for a year by saying this was a "local" election and it had nothing to do with Trump.

And Kentucky will still have a Democratic Governor at that point in part because Trump is unpopular nationwide.

 

Trump will win the same states he won in 2016.

The Democratic candidate can win 90% of the vote in NY and CA. It doesn't matter.

 

If Trump loses 90-10 in the most populous states of the country, he ain't winning the same states that he won in 2016.

 

As someone who was born in VA, grew up in VA, and lived in VA, I can state that the the view that somehow Trump has caused VA to become a Dem State is a view based on ignorance. The reality is that the Dem take over of the State is based on Demographics.

The amazing thing to me is that the large number of Asians living in Northern VA came to the US to escape communism yet they now vote for communist-lite Dems.

 

The movement against Trump since 2016 is in the "already blue" states.

1) Yankees moving to Virginia, and
2) the massive expansion of the federal bureaucracy (government workers always vote Democrat).

Here's the problem with your "don't blame Trump, blame demographics" argument and it is the same problem that every other political scientists has been noting about the future of the GOP under Trump.

Trump is not attempting, in any shape or form, to expand the voting base. And since demographic trends suggests that his voting base is shrinking compared to other demographics, that is a big problem.

 

Since he made that rude gesture to other people, the claim that it was to mock someones disability is false. He is just a dik. His opposition is no better.

 

If the only way to gain certain Demographics is to offer them free **** then the country is doomed anyway. You can thank Democrats for keeping certain demographics on the metaphorical plantation for decades with no end in sight. Nice job!
