Rep. Gosar is censured over an anime video showing him killing AOC

Gosar should have apologized, he could have avoided all this.

But, his arrogance forced dems hand. He deserved censure and removed from committee assignments. In fact, I think he should resign, the guy's a lunatic.

McCarthy, and other republicans tried to sidestep the issue with various right wing hate-the-left talking points, not realizing that none of that addresses the issue before the floor.

The House of Representatives voted to censure hardline Republican Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., and remove him from his two committee assignments.

The vote was mostly along party lines, 223-207. Two Republicans, Reps. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., joined all Democrats to censure Gosar, while Rep. David Joyce, R-Ohio, voted present.

The formal rebuke came after Gosar posted an anime style video on Twitter last week that depicts him murdering Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y, and attacking President Biden. The video, which he deleted after intense blowback, shows a a character with Gosar's image wielding a sword to kill a character with the image of Ocasio-Cortez.

 

I agree. He should have apologized and admitted it was in poor taste. It just gives each partisan food for the continued divide.

I agree with the censor. I don't agree with removing him from committee's. Particularly since they won't even censor things that their own reps do.

It seems like the Democrats are weaponizing their control over the House, looking for excuses to go after specific Republican congressman and make a show out of little alleged wrong misdoings.

This precedent where the Democrats decide to punish Republicans instead of the tradition of letting each party deal with their own turds is bad for the nation.
