Republicans in Congress are getting concerned about Trump. It is not so much what they are saying. It is what they are not saying. In terms of defending the Republican President, their silence is deafening.

They have reason to be concerned. Yesterday, on the White House South Lawn Trump was asked specifically what he wanted Zelensky to do, and he responded:

"Well I would think that if they were honest about it they'd start a major investigation into the Bidens. It's a very simple answer. They should investigate the Bidens because how does a company that's newly formed -- and all these companies if you look at, and by the way likewise, China -- should start an investigation into the Bidens."

"Because what happened in China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine. So I would say that President Zelensky, if it were me, I would recommend that they start an investigation into the Bidens because nobody has any doubt that they weren't crooked."

Trump has never explained what happened in Ukraine or China. What are China and Ukraine supposed to investigate? This has Republicans a bit bewildered as well as concerned. What is the President talking about? He sounded unhinged, and virtually admitted to his guilt.

The same man says today, “I don’t care about Biden’s campaign, but I do care about corruption,” Trump told reporters. “I believe there was tremendous corruption with Biden ... we are looking at corruption, we are not looking at politics.”

Trump went as far as to insist “this is about corruption” or a close variant of that statement six times in less than 40 seconds, once again failing to define the corruption to which the Bidens were involved.

“Have you asked foreign leaders for any corruption investigations that don’t involve your political opponents?” CNBC’s Eamon Javers asked. Trump gave no answer.

Republicans are concerned about the apparent bipolar responses over a period of two days.

Recently, Trump told reporters, "I always cooperate." Keep in mind, when listening to Trump's statements, as of Aug. 5, he has made 12,019 false or misleading claims.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...as-made-false-or-misleading-claims-over-days/

Sure enough, Trump was lying again. Trump is planning to tell House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that they will not cooperate with the ongoing impeachment inquiry until the full House votes to authorize it, officials said today. The White House letter may go out Monday.

So, now Trump is telling the speaker of the house what to vote on. This has Republicans in Congress concerned.

In the meantime, how smart is it to let the opposition do all the talking? Trump refuses to allow current and former members of his administration to testify before Congress. Most of them will say nice things about Trump and protect him. The testimony of Corey Lewandowski comes to mind. Instead, Trump forbids them to testify and they are obeying his command.

Democrats in the House are not concerned. They will simply add another charge to the impeachment proposal -- obstruction of Congress -- and proceed with their witnesses who will tell the Democrats what they want to hear.

Trump is not intelligent enough to understand this.

This has Republicans in Congress quite concerned.

I sure hope we get to the bottom of all this soon. Investigate Biden, investigate Trump, investigate whoever needs investigating, then we can talk about who's guilty and who's innocent.

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida brushed off Trump's remarks and instead claimed the news media was misinterpreting the President. In other words, according to the Senator, we can't trust what the President says. The media and Trump's detractors were simply going by what Trump said.

    We can't do that???

It gets even more strange. Rubio adds, Trump was "just needling the press, knowing that you guys are going to get outraged by it.

"He's pretty good at getting everybody fired up," Rubio said, adding that "the media responded right on task."

"I don't think it's a real request," Rubio said. "Again, I think he did it to gig you guys. I think he did to provoke you to ask me and others and get outraged by it."

Those remarks have some validity since I have heard the very same thing from Trump's fans on PF. They love it when Trump pisses off the "libs."

So, here's what we got. A United States Senator and many of Trump's supporters think Trump says things just to create a stir in the media while getting liberals all riled up.

To accomplish this, Trump incriminates himself where impeachment charges are concerned, confirming their legitimacy, while making a complete fool of himself on national television. Meanwhile, according to the Senator, what Trump says is meaningless. Do I have that right?

Now, I ask you, how smart is that? His base adores this ability Trump has to rile up the press and get liberals all hot and bothered.

It is just my opinion, but I don't think this a trait we want in a President.

Well it has Romney sensing an opportunity all though not much of one assuming he can still handle basic math and understands their aren't enough Mormons in the rest of the county to get him nominated let alone elected.

Trump doesn't need to explain what happened with Biden. Everyone already knows. He fired the prosecutor investigsting his son.

No. You are missing the point. Once Trump is voted out, and his 'spell' over the GOP voters is waning, The GOP members in the House and Senate will have a lot of splaining to do on why they did nothing but cower, while their party was taken over by this wanna-be Mussolini and his white nationalist allies.

The odd thing about voters is that they never hold themselves accountable for enabling. They did studies on voters memories after Watergate, and were amazed how few people remember voting for Nixon over McGovern despite the landslide. Nope the GOP voters will blame politicians for supporting the very man they supported while he was popular with the base.

Trump is suddenly interested in "investigating" a man who just so happens to be his political opponent now.

    Funny times we live in.

Rubio claims that Trump was just joking when he said

    China if you're listening...

They however didn't think it was a joke. They told him to stuff it and said they DECLINED to insert themselves in our elective process

    When Trump said

Russia if you're listening...Putin didn't think it was a joke either. Within HOURS the Russians tried to access Clinton's server

It's "convenient" to claim that Trumps PUBLIC entreaties for foreign interference in our elections (an illegal act) are just jokes...but they are clearly NOT
