Usually people trying to make a point don't tell others this is my point no go look for evidence to see if I'm right. Poor discussion form.

You're right, they didn't have the senate. The democrats still tried to push their nomination, and supported by RBG herself.

Now... republicans are pushing only this time they DO have the senate.

    Elections have consequences.

Good luck with that constitutional amendment process.

It's becoming clear to me why the left hates the constitution. It stands in the way of their desire for power and control. EXACTLY how the founders intended.

The left doesn't seem to understand how the balance of power and control works.

The left gained seats in 2018 in the house, because that was their strategy. They lost seats in the Senate.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Face it. Obama was a terrible President. If he was smart, he would have figured out how to use some leverage to get his appointment through the Senate. But Obama was neither smart, and he didn't care.Obama allowed Mitch McConnell to steal that Supreme Court seat. McConnell is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and that means Obama is really, really dumb.

You guys are blaming republicans, blaming McConnell, but the people you should blame is Obama and weak democrat leaders. You should be mad at them for not making a deal. You should be mad at them for their stupidity!

Totally agree with you and I have tried to make this point myself. The thing is we all know politicians will lie and have no honor and backbone so it does not surprise when both side show themselves to be hypocrites. I would be more interested in how many people here who are not politicians have changed their view the whole Garland nomination thing? Are voters a reflection of politicians or are they better?

You mean that YEAR LONG PROCESS in which Dems tried everything possible to get bi-partisan participation?

As I posted on another thread...
Nothing matters to a desperate party in their last throes other than grabbing power and putting the stake in the heart of Democracy. They have nothing to offer the average American other than propaganda and wedge issues to get them riled up. This is their last stand so they are going for broke and full throttle Fascist...The Constitution be damned .

What about the democrats that supported a vote for Gardland. Now they want to wait until after the election to let voters decide. They didn't like that argument back then.

They couldn't because they didn't have the majority. The Republicans have the majoriity. Fsiling to use that majority is unconsionable cowardice.

It has happened very nearly every time when the president and the Senate were of different parties

    Seriously,
Is this going to be a daily thing from now until a nominee is confirmed?

It's already tiresome to hear all this whining, and its only day 3!

Its gonna happen, crying and all, banging on the court doors, childish outbursts.

Blow your nose into a hanky and suck it up buttercup.

    Lordy lordy .

Incorrect. The Repubs blocked the Dems from filling a seat using the excuse that a seat shouldn’t be filled in an election year. Well...it’s an election, so the seat shouldn’t be filled, right?

Name the specific times one party blocked the other party from filling a Supreme Court seat with the reason being it was an election year.

That's pretty obviously NOT what the founders intended, as it was the founders that established the EC and set the Senate representation.

The only thing is the Republicans have been misrepresented in this thread. McConnell made it clear that when the Senate and White House are held by different parties no nomination gets done in this situation. Funny how the OP left out the different parties stuff.
