"Prosecutors say that since signing his plea deal, Gates has provided "extraordinary assistance" to the government.

He met with investigators more than 50 times, giving Mueller's office and other prosecutors "truthful, reliable" information to the government, Justice Department lawyer Molly Gaston said.

Gates, Gaston said, is someone who "decided to do the right thing," and he "wholeheartedly" held up his end of the bargain. She said the government did not oppose Gates' request for no prison time — just probation.

Gates also spoke on his own behalf Tuesday. In a very brief statement, he said he accepts "complete responsibility for my actions."

"I greatly regret the mistakes I made," he said before asking for leniency. "I hope and pray you'll grant that to me."

Prosecutors had recommended just probation with no jail time, but apparently the judge felt differently??

This is a clear example of how (and why) people who plead guilty are not always guilty.

Plead guilty and get only 45 days. Plead innocent and risk years and years in prison.

Wonder if Flynn is packing his bags now that the IG report didn't save him. :)

Why are you people happy that these associates affiliated with Trump are going to prison?

To me this shows a sick delight on your part.

Some of these people did not do anything really that wrong, while others of them only did minor bad things.
The only reason they got deeply investigated and prosecuted was the witch hunt trying to dig up people who could turn enemy witness against Trump.

Sure many of these individuals may not be the most savory characters, but this type of thing is commonplace, and normally it doesn't get prosecuted, even if it is brought to the prosecutor's attention.

I bet 90% of you couldn't even tell us exactly what these individuals are accused of doing, only the laws they were charged/convicted of.

And another half of you don't seem to have the mental capacity to see the difference between the two.
