If the cars we drive were to have external air bags, made of something rather hard yet malleable, we could place little blunt pins on the bumpers and save the exterior of the car and the person inside completely.

This would be made even better with a brake lock on these little pins. this would stop the car going anywhere and completely save the person inside.

When it comes to making traffic less congested, there would be a very big step forwards if there was, instead of more lanes, more roads. this would see the standard single lane carried out over many more lanes, but instead of using the whole road length ways, there could be more segments of the roads, put into more lanes in the city. this would see the major pressure put onto the roads in the central business district handle the incoming traffic.

Of course, the more roads there are in town will handle the influx of traffic - it is like trying to get a hole lot of parts on a conveyor belt onto a tiny area in the middle or something, yes? this means there needs to be more lanes in the central business district for the traffic to go in faster. this means, too, less traffic circles and other things that 'slow traffic down.' maybe the side walks could be minimized so as to allow for more traffic, or, that the buildings could have corners cut off their side walks to allow for more 'shoulder bends?'

~ Shoulder bends make for a great reduction in traffic, as it is where two cars can be side by side, allowing for half the traffic congestion in a single lane by allowing cars to keep moving while the shoulder bend is used.

Of course, to stop people having accidents would be the best way to stop road carnage. this could be done by making people aware of the cars around them and oncoming traffic too.

Maybe if we were to observe the vision in the car is fine, it is down to the driver not to drive into other vehicles or people. this is evidenced in the comprehensive set of mirrors the driver has at their disposal, of course.

Maybe it could be set up to measure the distances of other things in the mirrors and alert the driver to them immediately? this could be done with three dimensional lasers, measuring - out of the mirrors themselves - the distances of other vehicles and any sort of object; where the laser stops, it could 'stop' a few meters nearer the next moment, and that could be the signal for an oncoming vehicle, of course.

This would require very little research, as this sort of thing is common place. in the mirrors, if you will.

This is almost as brilliant as the idea that we should build airport runways in a giant banked circle like a race car track so they never run out of runway.

If buses were to offer television during their trips, maybe many people would opt for that, clearing traffic congestion by whopping amounts? i guess the fact that a lot of poor people take the bus would make people think twice about taking it with them, so, we should learn from capitalism and instigate buses for different areas - colour code them? this would be where a red bus operates south of the c.b.d. and a blue bus east?
