September, 2019: "Hell yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47."
November, 2021: "I still hold this view."
February, 2022: "I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone."
Last night: "It's clear to me that the only place an AR-15 or an AK-47 makes sense is on a battlefield. Raising the minimum age of purchase to 21? We can get that done. A red-flag law? We'll get that done. Universal background checks? We will get that done."

Meh, he's a carpetbagging opportunist supported by oblivious college students. Scary times in my state. Another couple cycles and the Democrats will gobble up an additional 39 electoral votes, ending the state's single party dominance from the last two decades. Implications are that Texas is no-longer tough on immigration crime, no-longer liberal on firearm ownership, and no-longer a state-level culture of shooting, hunting, camping and sunsets.

I could see Texas becoming a terrible place at the hands of Governors like O'Rourke by virtue of their tendency to respond to public crises with unilateral authoritarianism.

So in sum... the sun is beginning to set on the horizon of red Texas, but just ever so slowly. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Who cares about the state of the country when you can let in endless millions of illegals to get on the Democrat welfare plantation. How much money you can make as a politician is more important than the future. Can’t these charlatans find other ways to make money?

I'd be interested to know (meh, not really) how you think Last night "updates" his previous views...

    Seems reasonably consistent to me...

I wonder how Rafael "Ted" Cruz's positions have changed throughout the hours...

    LOL

It's the exact opposite of consistent. It's a roller coaster.

    1. Take guns
    2. Not taking guns
    3. Take guns

Nobody with an ounce of honesty would say this is 'reasonably consistent'.

Your partisanship and lack of objectivity is entertaining.

Your total contradiction of your own position would be equally so

    Texas positions;
    1. Fourth Reich
    2. Fifth Reich
    6. Sixth Reich
Texas, All Reich all the time

You'd have to define "Blown Out", but I don't think it'll be more than 3% points. He was within 2.6% of Rafael in 2018, and that was before RvW and the full blown creation of the Texiban.

He's not going to win, but I think it'll be a typical D loss in Texas...

You didn't ask a question and certainly not to me.

Your inability to defend your position was expected.

    Not quite.
His latest position doesn’t talk about taking guns away from anyone. Some restrictions on acquisition, yes. But that is not the same as taking something that has already been acquired.

My point still remains. His views have not been something that anybody could describe as 'reasonably consistent'.

Which gets to the underlying issue. He's saying what he thinks will get him the most votes. Nobody can believe anything he says.

What a great issue to take a stand on IN TEXAS!!!!

I'm going to guess that illegals kill more people than ARs, but hes' going to run on an old and stale issue that he really can't do much about.

The guy is an idiot, plain and simple.

    Yeah...I hear you...
But, I could see a 53-47 type of result...
    Still, a loss is a loss...(Whether by 25 Points or a 0.1% Margin)...

Okay @Egoboy, hear me out for just a couple of sentences because I do want to give my thoughts on the candidate since we are in election season (yippee for us PF'ers!!!)

2017: Beto decided to vacate his House seat to Veronica Escobar (this move is performed when the incumbent has weak chance of winning reelection but still wants to hold another office since a straight-up defeat would do even more harm to those aspirations.

2018: Beto challenged Cruz for a Senate seat and suffered a straight-up defeat, 48%-51%.

2019: Beto went for big splash on firearms as a presidential candidate and ended up receiving zero electoral support in that race, later dropping out ("Hell yes, blahblahblah, etc., and so on...").

2022: Beto is challenging the Texas Governor and word-saladed a legitimate yes-no question on firearm ownership in the context of his past statements.

Beto's whole thing this election is firearm ownership; it's been O'Rourke's main, central message throughout his campaign, and he has no solid response when questioned on it. This allows his opponent (Abbot) to correctly criticize him for "flip-flopping" (ie taking position-A, then shifting to position-A.1, then A.2, then back to A.1). Once voters sense a lack of vision, the candidate may as well pack up the bags and concede before being defeated. I expect this to be Beto's last attempt at elected office. That f'n comment in 2019 should have been his cue to go local or exit from politics generally.

I see your point. You’ve stated the Republican Party should be totally removed and we only have one political party many times.
Which reich is the one you’re wanting, refresh my memory?
