When Romney was faced with the question about how many jobs were both created and destroyed through Bain Capital he unequivocally answered that altogether there was a total net gain of 100,000. In his statistics he pointed to the top 3 top job gaining companies in the Bain portfolio. These companies could have accounted for most of 100,000 new jobs he was referring to. But what about the other side of the ledger? What about the thousands of jobs lost by companies in the Bain portfolio. He deliberately left those numbers out.

Romney lied because he knew it was political suicide to give a true accounting of jobs lost.

Even worse you now have his fellow Republican Candidates (New Gingrich) attacking him for being a corporate raider and deliberately shaking up companies so that they would shed themselves of jobs in the interest of becoming profitable.

In other words per the GOP Candidates there is something inherently wrong about some forms of capitalism. And Romney was a practitioner of that form of capitalism. So now we have good free enterprise and bad free enterprise. Just take your pick.

Romney will be grilled over and over again about his Bain Capital experiences by the Press and by Obama. And he should be. How can a champion of free enterprise lie about the fact that jobs can disappear as well as be created in our free market society?

STEPHANOPOULOS: Now, there have been questions about that -- that -- that calculation of a hundred thousand jobs. So if you could explain it a little more. I -- I’ve read some analysts who look at it and say that you’re counting the jobs that were created but not counting the jobs that were taken away.
    Is that accurate?

ROMNEY: No, it’s not accurate. It includes the net of both. I’m a good enough numbers guy to make sure I got both sides of that.
But -- but the -- the simple ones, some of the biggest, for instance, there’s a steel company called Steel Dynamics in Indiana, thousands of jobs there. Bright Horizons Children’s Centers, about 15,000 jobs there; Sports Authority, about 15,000 jobs there. Staples alone, 90,000 employed. That’s a business that we helped start from the ground up.

FACT CHECK: Promising gain without pain

"ROMNEY: "In the business I had, we invested in over 100 different businesses and net-net, taking out the ones where we lost jobs and those that we added, those businesses have now added over 100,000 jobs.... I'm a good enough numbers guy to make sure I got both sides of that."

THE FACTS: Romney has never substantiated his frequent claim that he was a creator of more than 100,000 jobs while leading the Bain Capital private equity company. His campaign merely cites success stories without laying out the other side of the ledger _ jobs lost at Bain-acquired or Bain-supported firms that closed, trimmed their workforce or shifted employment overseas.

Moreover, his campaign bases its claims on recent employment figures at three companies _ Staples, Domino's and Sports Authority _ even though Romney's involvement with them ceased years ago.

By that sort of charitable math, President Barack Obama could be credited with creating over 1 million jobs even though employment overall is down about 2 million since he came to office. But Romney accuses Obama of destroying jobs while using a different standard to judge his own performance _ cherry-picked examples that leave everything else out."

Selectively quoting numbers, ignoring jobs lost, and failing to substantiate anything would get a CEO fired.

But I guess Romney's cool with that since he likes to fire people.

And he's afraid of facts and figures about his own company. He's not only a liar but also a coward.
