I highly doubt he'd tax us more to give us a check, that wouldn't make sense because it wouldn't stimulate anything but anger.

That's the only way I see it. Andrew Wang was on Twitter claiming that Trump is using his [Wang's] plan that he ran on which is completely untrue. Wang wanted to give checks to all Americans every year for several years. IF this goes through and people get a check, it shouldn't go to anyone who was unemployed before March.
