I came across an this interesting article from 7 years ago:

I’ve been calling Russia a fascist state for a long time now. I think it’s time for people to understand what we are dealing with here. You can get a 15 year prison sentence in Russia for posting something on Facebook that does not agree with the government! In Russia, murderers get 15 year prison sentences!
It’s time to call a spade a spade - Russia is a fascist state!

I think there is a good argument to be made that both countries are, in a broad sense, fascist. The economic systems of both countries more closely resembles fascist economic thinking, with private capital and the state as "partners."

But in the modern era, Fascism is a term without meaning. No nation describes itself as fascist and none traces it's political or economic agendas to fascist thinking, even if they closely imitate it. Fascism now is simply a pejorative, an insult to call your enemies, which I think is what the OP is doing.

The US and Canada are fascist states, on behalf of the World Economic Forum.

Russian fascism already has an official symbol:

Russian alphabet does not have Latin Z.

That’s not true. Russia falls under the dictionary definition of fascism. I just think that it’s time to call it by its name.

It's really a definition that doesn't mean much if most of the non democratic countries of the world can fall into it.
