The Russian military on Friday accused the U.S.-led coalition in Syria of providing safe corridors for the Islamic State group to leave the area around its stronghold of Raqqa.

Col. Gen. Sergei Surovikin, the commander of Russian forces in Syria, said IS made a deal earlier this month with the Kurdish forces to leave two villages southwest of Raqqa and move toward Palmyra.

Surovikin said the U.S.-led coalition along with the allied Kurds "collude with the leaders of the IS, who surrender the areas under their control and head to provinces where Syrian government forces operate."

"There is an impression that under the slogan of fighting international terrorism in Syria the Americans are using IS to offer resistance to government forces' advances," he said at a briefing.

Surovikin said Russian forces had struck several IS convoys as they were leaving Raqqa.

Russian warplanes struck an IS convoy heading toward Palmyra on May 25 and another on May 30, killing 80 militants and destroying many of their vehicles, he said.

Surovikin also criticized the U.S. for trying to block Syrian government forces from taking control of the country's southern border.

He said that Syrian government troops had secured territorial gains in the southern Suwayda province near the Jordanian border, but encountered resistance from the U.S.-led coalition.

The U.S. has dealt the Syrian government and its allied troops several blows near Tanf close to the border with Jordan, where the U.S. trains Syrian opposition forces.

Surovikin dismissed the U.S. argument that Syrian government forces there posed a threat to the training camp as "absurd" and criticized Washington's action as a violation of Syria's sovereign right to protect its border.

Col. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi of the Russian military's General Staff also questioned the U.S. role in Syria.

"Having declared the goal of fighting international terrorism, the coalition strikes Syrian troops while letting IS militants exit the encircled areas unhampered, thus boosting terrorist groupings around Palmyra and Deir el-Zour," he said. "It raises a question why they do it and what their real goals are."

Rudskoi hailedg an effort by Russia, Turkey and Iran to establish safe zones in Syria, saying that it has "practically ended a civil war in Syria." He added that the specifics related to safe zones boundaries and monitoring mechanisms are to be approved at a summit in Kazakhstan's capital Astana later this month.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday described the creation of safe zones as a "qualitative change" in Syria.

"There is now a real chance to strengthen the cease-fire and give impetus to Syria talks in Geneva," he said on a trip to Kazakhstan.

I'd like to send my sincerest regards to the Russian military. They finally decided to do the right thing and told the world the TRUTH as it is: The US is using ISIS as a tool to build Israel a puppet state called Kurdistan.

That's how Russia's real approach should have been right from the beginning, so we were a little disappointed as having not been seeing them taking this sort of steps towards the developments in Syria for some while but still, this latest move signals a very good start for making things better in Syria for all other than the Deep United States...!

Keep up the good work Russia!

Hey, didn't Russia also say that the Turks were buying oil from ISIS?

Yes they did. But I don't know what's so hard to understand about state affairs and personal relationships being two different concepts. Conjunctural statements are often nothing beyond mere messages or pressure tools. Besides, when Russia brought it up there were CIA trojan structures called FETO within Turkish state institutions who were in control of combat aircraft operations along with many other state functions.

What's essential here is, Russia now realized the fact that the US is HELPING OUT and USING ISIS to build a puppet Kurdistan in Syria for later merging it with KRG of Iraq which will hold a referendum of independence on coming up September.

Moronic attempts for diverting this subject matter to irrelevant stuff are pathetically ludicrous :)

No, the Russian military intelligence claimed that Turkey was pursuing a deliberate policy of buying ISIS oil as a means of fighting Assad.

Point being, Russian military intelligence releases information in a dishonest light to serve national interest.

If you mean that Americans are playing a game of trying to get everyone else to spend lives fighting ISIS, you're right. Everybody has been. That's why ISIS has been around for so long.

The modern incarnation of ISIS would not exist if the US, in conjunction with Saud, Qatar and others, had not armed and supported the Islamist Jihadists (including Al Qaeda/Al Nusra) in the early phases of the Syrian insurgency.

    What's that ''NO'' to????

I did not mean anything like it but I d like to know how you managed to infer something that absurd and nonsense out of what's crystal clear. I copy it down here:

The United States never supported Al Nusra or ISIS. Qatar has, and the Saudis have supported groups alike and fighting alongside Al Nusra.

Your assertion that there was some key difference between Russians accusation against Turkey and against the US. Russian state media just a year ago loved showing Turkish and ISIS flags flying within a few hundred meters of each other.

It's not absurd at all. The Kurds are unwilling to fight ISIS far beyond the limits of traditional Kurdistan, and they're the only group (besides Iraq) that the US can use against ISIS.

    Stop stop stop...

    Here is what I said:

Now explain how come that sentence in bold in my above quote means this:

I don't care a bit of what your fantasy world makes you feel like but it obviously blocks some crucial comprehensive abilities. No good.

Btw: Believin PKK/YPG fighting ISIS when it's well documented that both just switch lands without a fight is even beyond boundaries of stupidity.

Total nonsense. Aside from the Syrian Army the Kurds have spent to most lives in the fight against ISIS. Turkey has been the power most keen to ignore ISIS.

The United States never supported ISIS or Al-Nusra. This is all a smokescreen by the Syrians, Iranians, and Russians to make the discussion veer into useless territory.

If the Kurds have convinced ISIS to spend lives fighting Assad and not Kurds, good for them. Doesn't change the fact that they have been fighting ISIS, and are one of the most active groups doing so.

America is sponsoring, arming, training both ISIS and PKK. Also arranging agreements in between them. The USA is the BIGGEST threat to the world peace! Period!

I see McCain standing next to what I assume became an influential Jihadist in the Syrian Civil War.

I don't see American support for Al-Nusra or ISIS.

Complete nonsense, again. The United States never sponsored, armed, or trained either groups. We are working with allies of the PKK, no doubt. Turkey will have to get over it.

Maybe Kurds think so. They also think that they are Communists. They are interesting guys. I think :)
