Why would anyone who has watched Putin for the last decade or so, believe this was what he says it was. It is just as likely this was weapons test and the radiation was intentional testing. The Russian people are safe test subjects for their military and they have no problem using them.

When has NATO actually invaded a country first? NATO was established as a defensive organization and since WW2 that is what they've done in Europe.

Uhh, recall a country named Yugoslavia and Serbia? In the '90's?

Germany and USSR had a non aggression pact. That didn't turn out well...LOL.

    This is all bullsh!t.
US subs can fire at Moscow from Mediterranean, Baltic Sea and Arctic Ocean, which would bring the flight time to 5 minutes. Missiles in Poland or Germany don’t change anything.

Which makes my point exactly. There is no reason to put them in Poland, which borders Russia, unless you're looking to provoke a response. Maybe it's time to call it like it is, and that is that Europe can fend for themselves.

    Those are defensive missiles.
Russian claims of otherwise don’t pass basic logic test - why have stationary offensive weapons when you can easily hide them into the ocean? Those nuclear subs can stay submerged for a very long time.

Yes...but wait, those boomer subs that Moskolia is pretty much blind to attack....well, according to the expert vatnik consortium here, the 10+ million or so inhabitants of Moskva can be safely stashed away in underground bunkers and damage will be "mimimal'....same as loss of life...LOL.

Evacuating 10+ million in 5 minutes? That’s not enough time for them to figure out if attack is real or if their computer system took a dump at them.
    Good luck!

There used to be such a belief some years ago. I remember that. But that was gossips and propaganda even those days. Nowadays the situation is seen completely different:

    https://www.foreignaffairs.com/arti...ssian-chinese-partnership-threat-us-interests
The border between China and Russia is marked and agreed (Russia had to interprete a number of positions in the treaty to favour of China and previously it was in favour of Russia, China doesn't need to invade Siberia lacking population in its own northern regions which are located to far south of Siberia and partnership (alliance) between the two grows... primarily it is forged by the policy of the US which treats both countries as enemies (it's natural for the two opposing the same enemy to become friends).

It takes from hours to minutes to turn starting grounds of SAM missiles into SSM missiles with nuclear warheads. And russians are no fouls. The project initially was made to protect EU from Iran. And when Russia asked for guarantees that this base will not be used against Russia (those days we were sort of friends) the US refused to do that. At the moment the treaty between Russia and the USA about the control over short and medium range nuclear missiles is broken by the USA. These facts are seen in Russia as a threat. And it doesn't really matter what US state propaganda tells to its citizens. It's your problem. Not ours. We no longer trust the US.

I heard the same opinion... About 10-15 years ago... :) But something certainly has gone wrong about that loong term plan. I see that the same is happening with the present one. Fossil fuel makes about 60-70% of russian budget. Which is good, because the people won't be able to refuse of it in the coming 50 years by any serious extent. And they will never be able to completely refuse of using oil and gas. It simply doesn't work without it. There are no places for huge dams everywhere, the NPP is not able to maneuver (electricity demand is not even) and solar and wind generation is just a dead end expensive toy - these don't generate the energy when it is needed and only generate when it is possible. So it's out of the market idea. The same sin against market is american military equipment. Pentagon wasted a huge part of the current national debt finding itself in a situation when even Russia (20 times weaker economy) managed to build modern weaponry which is better than the american one. In other words you are going to need a billion for every thousand USD spent on military build up by Russia or China. This forces you out of the market - nothing personal. I still do believe into american people. But I don't believe that modern corrupt political clans in power of the US will manage to find the way out. They have actually already failed several times trying a man of different skin color and a woman... I expect next time to see a crippled immigrant with a very sophisticated preferences in its sexual behaviour to try..., but I am sure it won't help.

As for Putin - he will be substituted by Putin #2. Hopefully his name (I am pretty sure that it will be a white man) will not be as difficult as Karol Kramp-stillcantpronounce...

Interesting question. But are you sure that East Germany has a base with US missiles capable to attack Russia?
And another question. If Russia built a site capable to hit down the US strategic missiles at the starting point motivating it that they are protecting a unique species of whales against a possible attack from Japan - would you belive them for a fraction of a second? Would you find this purely defensive site not threatening your lives? :) Thank You for a sincere answer and understanding of russians.

People are going to be using fossil fuels for 50 years, no doubt. but they will not be using them at the rate or volume that they are now. there will be much less demand therefore the price will go down. What weapons are the Russians producing that are better than American ones?

I don't know if it it your problems with english as a 2nd language but a billion for every thousand?

Oh, Russia being Russia, and Putin being Putin, you just might have to eat those words. Hopefully not, and all it is is a nuclear rocket engine catastrophe. Wait, nuclear rocket engine? If that’s true, the cats out of the bag now. Still, Russia being Russia, not surprising it blew up, and the radiation release is most likely far more serious than Putin will ever admit.

Radiation doesn't pay attention to politics. If there was a major leak we would have discovered it the same way Western scientists discovered Chernobyl - through radiation testing.

I don't have time for conspiracies, I go where the data takes me.

this is what the Trump admin wants here, to lie to the people if it makes the Trump look bad - taking after the Putin playbook

Perhaps. I'll wait and see. Still, a nuke powered rocket engine? That’s a major technological leap, and one that I’m sure Putin rather not have exposed at this time.

NATO was created to keep the peace in Europe. Not surprising both Russia and China want to see NATO discredited by using the UN Security Council to oppose NATO intervention.

"NATO countries attempted to gain authorisation from the United Nations Security Council for military action, but were opposed by China and Russia that indicated they would veto such a proposal."

Which SAM defense system are you talking about? SAM is generic for surface to air missiles.

Partly true. The demand will go down due to different reasons. But we don't have fossil fuel for more than that. We still have to find replacement for it and 50 years looks like a good timing for that.

I really doubt it. All the easy sources of fuel have been depleted. Russia is going to drill in Arctic. Most companies are mining oil off-shore. The US is investing into mining oil from already depleted sources performing it a loss (the investments do not pay off although they increase the amount of product). The offer is artificially being extended, but it only creates a bubble which will inevitably blow. So the future of the coming 50 years is really expensive fossil fuel and partly return to coal (poor countries). Only expensive fossil fuel will drive new energy resources to market.

    Hyper-sonic missiles.

That could be a bit of exaggeration I think. But if you look at the costs of F-35 program and russian SU 57. You can also check the investments into military Plutonium processing into fuel for NPP. Russia did it in the 90s for very little money. US invested a fortune having a zero result. Another failure is a stealth Zumwalt program... I don't say that american engineers are bad. The corruption obviously happens elsewhere. And it really makes the USA to spend billions and ruin its image in exchange for nothing. Corruption is really destorying the US. And the most of it is about military.

Your question is irrelevant since Germany is a NATO member. If NATO wanted a missile system in East Germany they could put one there if one isn't already there. Your second question is a bit confusing. Can you give me an example of where the US is using a unique species as an excuse to position a missile defense system?

I am talking about the base in Poland. It was planned in times when Russia was following the US initiatives and at those times it was planned to protect EU from a possible nuclear strike from Iran. At the moment it is said to be against aggression of Russia.
The thing is however that most of our ground based ballistic missiles are located west of Urals and are within the reach from Poland at the most vulnerable starting point before going into space, before the false aims are released. So it can be used in a 'sudden strike', when the US hits first with all its Tomahawks and nuclear power. Then the possible response from Russia will not guarantee complete destruction of the US. Of course it happened only in the heads of those who didn't realize the possibilities of Russia. Syria showed the world that Russian anti-missile systems are efficient, that russian wing-missiles exist and are efficient. With newly demonstrated russian weaponry the sudden attack has no reason. That's why the US started to deal with China (gradually choosing more and more powerful contender starting from Assad-N.Korea-Iran- Russia... and without any real demonstration of military capabilities).

NATO is a weird construction. It is called alliance and those guys who get their salary there even tell that in public. But for some reason Trump wanted his allies to pay for the protection and never got any money in return... For some reason the armies of alliance are rarely coming into battle together and if they are together it is in most cases - demonstration. So I doubt that germans would agree to put such a base making it an aim for Russia in a course of possible military conflict which is completely after Tramp and Putin to decide.

The second question is about Poland again. The construction there is on the go.

    You have nothing but opinion.
I don’t know how much you understand Chinese people, but they won’t do anything that does not profit them.
Who do you think they’ll rather confront - Russia with abundant natural resources in Siberia and Far East and economy of just 2% of the world, or the United States, their biggest trading partner, biggest economy, most powerful military? Which country sends more cash to China daily - Russia or the US? If things get hot between the three countries the US can literally promise China that all western countries will recognize new Chinese borders - they just need to cross Sino-Russian border and walk as long as they want and where they stop will be new Chinese borders.

Russians are naive to think China will help them. China has more interest in shredding Russia than the US.
