    That's right.
No, the biggest problem is war.

Without Washington's war-mongering, encouraging & supporting ISIS, and stirring the pot, Syria would not have been at war in the first place.

I have the optimism to think that in the end, solidarity, mutual help are better than social darwinism, however I learned to mistrust people who speak in the name of the greater good.

Interesting how you avoided addressing the main comment in my post = That The USA is by far the biggest State Sponsor of Terrorism in the Region.

You then ramble out unsupported claims.

"Assad and Putin are Terrorists themselves" ?

OK - I would not necessarily disagree with this statement but so what ? What does this have to do with the war in Syria ?
    ...
"Moderate" people never fight for a dictator who mistreats them. They want to get rid of him."

Your first claim is false - your second misses the mark.

Moderate people often fight for Dictators - often they have no choice. In this case the Moderate people of Syria had a choice - and they chose to fight for Assad.

This is not because Assad was well liked - many leaders are not well liked by many - the people wanted change and came out to protest for change - BUT - Not change to a Saudi Inspired Sunni Strict Sharia Totalitarian Theocracy.

Objectively speaking - in relative terms - Syria is the most free of any of the ME nations (not including Israel of course).
Syria is the only Secular Nation among the Main Muslim nations. Secularism is written into their constitution.

Unlike your beloved El Saud - in Syria there is drinking alcohol and dancing in Bars - to "western Music". There stoning of adulterers, death penalty for apostasy - there are Christian and Jewish Churches and others .. a significant percentage of non Muslim sects - including some very moderate ones such as Ismali and so on. Women wear skirts and proper bathing suits - do not need permission from a man to be educated - or to be accompanied by a male relative to go out.

While these freedoms may not seem important to you - in a Muslim nation these are a big deal.. and the people are willing to fight to keep these freedoms - freedoms the anti Assad Rebels wanted to take away.

"Assad certainly wants to consolidate his power, but what's the goal of his fellow terrorist Putin?"

Now what to make of this gibberish .. What leader does not want to consolidate power ?

The goals of Putin with respect to Syria matter not until the region is stabilized - until that happens it is just a money pit. The primary goal of Putin would then be to first stop the bleeding - and to try and figure out how he can get a return on investment.

Why do you call Putin a Terrorist ? what acts of terrorism has he done - or is responsible for ? Novocheck ? - Downing of Malasia Airliner what else ? This is nothing in comparison to Team USA.

In Syria - Putin's main goal was to first defeat the Radical Islamist Terrorist Army - that the US was arming and Supporting.

Well said, but I would disagree slightly with your last point. The Russians, and Syrians have had a strategic relationship since before the 6 day war. And plus, the Russians have maintained a logistics base on the Syrian coast for there navy since 1971. Not to mention Assad buys Russian arms. So highly doubt Putin was solely motivated by wanting to end Saudi/US sponsored “moderate” jihadist. The Russians have a stake in keeping Assad in power.
Kinda nick picking on my part, I know. But, other than that good post.

That's another topic. This thread is dedicated to Assad, Putin, and their crimes.

"Moderate" people never fight for their own oppression. If they fight, they fight for their freedom. And that's not motherf***ers like Pootin and Assad.

No doubt Syria is a Strategic ally of Russia - and Russia does not have that many. As stated - there were many motivations. What Putin did not want is to spend precious resources on fighting a war in the Region - Russia did not formally enter the war until late 2015 - 4 years into the war. Assad was on the ropes and Damascas was in Jeopardy - it had to be done.

I would not be surprised if 20 years from now we find out that the US asked - or at least agreed to Russia coming in to clean up the mess that was created.

Much of this Elephant is already out of the room but there is a whole lot more to this story yet to come out.

Funny how Christians and the Druze sided with Assad. And oh yeah, the alternative was US/Saudi funded head choppers. So yeah, good luck with that whole freedom angel.

What crimes are you talking about. It was not a crime to fight the US supported terrorist proxy army that was set loose on the people of Syria ?

The Moderate people of Syria were fighting for their freedom - they were fighting for Assad.

What your brain can not seem to deal with - is that the people of Syria were fighting against a radical Islamist proxy army. Assad is far more popular in Syria now than previously. The Syrian Army were seen as liberators when they retook the cities under the control of the Jihadists - Al Qaeda/ISIS and others of the same ilk.

You would be fighting for Assad too if you were a Syrian - unless of course you favor the radical Islamist's.

Is this an example of "Thought Avoidance" .

The adherent is given a black vs white - good vs evil - God vs Devil paradigm /narrative.
USA is "Good" - the enemy du jour is "Evil" When the adherent comes across information that conflicts with some "necessary illusion" - the mind seeks to avoid the "Bad Thought" - the thought that might prick the precious bubble.

Someone has been drinking a fair bit of Koolaid in any case.

How can the crimes of Putin and Assad in Syria be discussed - (crimes that so far have not been mentioned) - without discussing the factors that led to the crimes - which so often happen in war. Important factors such as - what was the cause of the war ?

In this case - it was the US leading a large coalition of nations - in an effort to arm, support, and supply an Islamist Jihadist proxy army - an army whose stated goal was to transform Syria into a Strict Sharia Nightmare - and we knew this right from the beginning.

Then - as luck would have it - in less than 2 years - our proxy army took over most of Syria - and they did exactly as they said they would do. The cities in were turned into a Strict Sharia Nightmare - dark age style. Daily Executions - many posted on the internet for all to watch - rape, force marriage, genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity.

In late 2013 a new Islamic State (IS) was declared - with an economy - infrastructure programs - gov't and so on.
Support from the US led coalition continued. Then - in 2014 this new Islamic State went into Iraq - our Dog in Syria went off its leash.

We were then in the sticky position of being allied with IS in Syria - but fighting them in Iraq.

Rand Paul goes on CNN's Sunday Morning show and is as befuddled about the whole situation as we are. CNN's Crowley desperately tries to avoid/deflect from what Paul is saying.

Yeah, a complete case of avoidance of responsibility on the OP’s part. Rail about monsters like Putin, and Assad, while completely avoiding the fact that if it wasn’t for Bush’s disastrous, and criminal decision to topple Saddam, chance are very likely that there would have never been a Syrian “civil” war. Our government lit the fuse to the powder keg, and now certain Americans want to blame the secondary explosions on everyone else.

I think the most mind boggling feat of mental gymnastics I’ve seen so far is that moron Joy Ried, and her pack of talking heads clearly state that it’s not hypocritical for them to have opposed the invasion of Iraq, but support the American occupation of Syrian territory. I was literally dumbfounded.

I saw Barbara Walters interview Assad, some good time ago, and she seemed to think he was a swell guy.

I don't think Assad is a Swell Guy - Everyone is your friend when the waves are calm and the drinks are flowing.

But, in comparison to the other leaders of other nations in the Region - Assad is Santa Clause that comes around 365 days a year.

We used to think Assad was a swell guy as well - We sent him suspected Al Qaeda operatives after 911 - for "questioning" (aka - extraordinary rendition) - some of which turned out to be innocent.

Trouble started when Assad refused a pipeline project through Syria. Arab states like Qatar were very riled - Turkey was not happy - El Saud - of course - and Israeli/US interests.

Next think you know - a covert coalition is arming a Jihadist proxy army in Syria..

Saddam us somewhat related but really a separate issue Salafi Islamist extremists did not have much of a foothold in Iraq prior to the war. After it turned into a hotbed of extremist activity. After many years of war - and especially after the surge - the Islamists were beaten down. Many of the towns had abandoned them and sided with Iraq Gov't.

In Syria there is a high Sunni Population - not that all Sunni's are nut jobs - 50% of Assad's regular Army was Sunni - but there was a large contingent of Sunni Adherents to the El Saud Caliphate - and the extremist ideology that flows from that Demon Spawn.

This is one thing to keep in mind when talking about Assad - He has some serious militants to deal with -and lots of them .

It is a bit of a hypocritical Irony when an Islamist cries out against human rights violations ... don't ya think ?

The Doctors Without Borders were furious about American jets bombing their hospital in Afghanistan a few years back. They kept calling them to stop, but they wouldn't so they said they would make a big stink about it. To accommodate Washington and cover up the story, the propaganda networks began their tall tales about Russia bombing hospitals in Syria.

Each publication in turn tried to top the other by adding another hospital, so from one it became 6 hospitals - all non existent with the exception of one which was intact.

The biggest problem Assad had was that he was an Alawite, and they were looked down on by the Sunni majority. The Assad's managed to gain power through the army, since the Sunnis felt the military was below them. Also the Alawites being secular had the support of the minorities, and when combined, they came to more than the Sunnis.

The Sunnis naturally wanted a Sunni president, and there were about 100 Sunni militias fighting Assad. Thanks to Lavrov's diplomatic endeavors and the promise of amnesty by Assad, as well as the realization that if Assad goes they will end up under sharia law, the Sunni militia groups joined Assad's army.

I think he is too. Assad created a lovely all inclusive and secular society in Syria, and has gone out of his way to protect Christians and other minorities from genocide. This is probably why he is so loved by the Syrian people.

The US regime deliberately destroyed an entire civilization. Several of them, in fact. Just ask the Iraqis and the Libyans.

A Short but classic clip of Rand Paul - speaking the Truth - albeit watered down - as "ye can't handle the Truth" - so Rand Couches his words.
Even so - it is harsh.

The vietnamese were nationalist more than they were communist or capitalist. Both sides wanted independence. Other capitalisms and communisms both used them as a proxy to try to unbalance the other.

We should've told France to leave them the F alone right off the bat, and the whole of Vietnam would've been our ally from then onward.

It may be true ... but it may also be that it is the typical American propaganda fake news. Who knows and cares ... Syria is a matter for the Russians and they should regulate it themselves ... their playground, not that of the USA!

It is also a taboo fact that Saudi Arabia does the same in Yemen to bomb schools and hospitals ... only no American is interested in that because Saudi Arabia is your friend and ally. hello hypocrisy?
