Oceguera is brave man to take on the NRA behemoth which, in my mind, is a quasi-terrorist organization at this point. Their stooges in congress voted right after the San Bernardino massacre to not close loopholes and allow people on the terrorist watch list to continue to buy guns unmolested. It's no wonder the rest of the world thinks we're nuts.

What loop-holes did they actually vote on?

(I'll understand if you can't answer that question with some real and truthful facts.)

People don't agree with using the terrorist watch list to limit a constitutional right because the list itself is secret, the criteria is secret, and the reason you were put on it in the first place is secret which makes it damn near impossible to fight against. The list is hugely flawed and shouldn't exist. Could have swore it was a Democrat talking point until last week.

The gun show loophole is outrageous. Or do you think violent felons should be allowed to buy guns?

No right for criminals to buy guns. The no-fly list needs reform to be sure, but that can be accomplished while at the same time closing these loopholes and expanding background checks. No constitutional right is without limits including the second amendment.

Pipe bombs are already illegal. Assault rifles should be also.

Why are you always so divisive? Why not discuss the issues brought up? This man is a former firefighter and a good family man. His views on gun control (and most other issues) are in line with the majority of Americans. We need more people in office who work to bring people together not divide them. United we stand, divided we fall.

Wow.. what a leap of logic. So because there are islamic terrorists in the world, these politicians want to criticise an American Club based on one of our Amendments?

Seriously? Is there no limit to progressive insanity?

I keep hearing about how we need to expand gun laws yet see no reason to do so. It's already illegal to knowingly sell to a felon, for a felon to have a firearm, and to use a firearm in a crime. Seems like we've got laws down the whole chain of felons using guns, assuming they tried to make an otherwise legal purchase. How about instead of more invasive gun laws which simply attempt to make purchase, transfer, and ownership of firearms more difficult for the 99.9%+ of people who own guns and harm no one we simply enforce what's already on the books.

Gun owner's aren't causing the divide here. They want the laws to remain the same and for criminals to be jailed under the current laws. The anti-gun groups are causing the divide by trying to create pointless laws which are targeted at making things more difficult for gun owners rather than criminals.

Gun grabbers are divisive. Even though the US has a long history of gun ownership, and a Constitutional amendment protecting it, they still seek to exploit every shooting for political purposes. The idea that they care about shooting victims is laughable. They're driven by nothing other than their own ideological agenda.

Exactly right....if our local and federal courts would actually start sentencing these felons caught with guns under the laws already on the books then a lot of the inner city gang violence would drop off. The problem is they are releasing violent felons on probation and letting out so early on parole that there not only is no deterrent but it puts them right back out on the streets again. If we simply took a fraction of the money we spend on the "war on drugs" and all the military spending in the ME we could easily pay to lock these guys up. If you are a violent felon caught with a gun you should served 20 years...no early release. If you are a violent felon and have been convicted in the past for violent felonies and after a second chance you commit another violent felony? 20 years...no early release. You do it again? Life without parole.

We have to start enforcing the laws we already have. We are not even doing that.

Where have you been? They were illegal in California. They more than one law some Federal with those weapons. They were modified into assault weapons by criminal terrorists. Do you know a law that will stop that short of disarming legal law abiding gun owners but would stop these terrorists? Does the government have a plan to buy back all of the Americans weapons? Do they have 100 trillion dollars in compensation? Do they have a promise to be in my bedroom when a bag guy comes through the front door? Do they have a 100% rate of not being there at this point in time and are just a mop up crew when they get notified of a crime in progress? How will this change, can they remove the intent to harm, from all mankind?

Do you want to turn the FBI's playbook over to the terrorists and possibly get informants killed? Those things gotta be kept secret. If you ended up on the "no sell" list, there would be due process to fight it.

Good riddance. (What might one expect from huffpo?) No worries mate, there are enough gun owners for you to hide behind once the bullets starts to fly.
