San Francisco: No 'legal basis' to hold shooting suspect

A California woman was randomly attacked by a gunman and killed in front of her father on a popular San Francisco pier Wednesday, police said.

Kate Steinle, 32, was walking with her dad on Pier 14 on the Embarcadero when she was shot in the upper torso and fell to the ground at about 6:30 p.m., police said. She later died at a hospital.

Her shooter, 45-year-old Francisco Sanchez, fled as witnesses snapped pictures, police said. Those images allowed police to track him down within the hour to a nearby restaurant — across the street from Steinle’s apartment, ABC7 reported.



Sanchez did not speak to her before firing and does not appear to have a connection to the victim, police said.

He was charged with homicide Thursday. He was out on bond in Texas and has a criminal history for charges including aggravated assault.

My take - a beautiful, bright, young, American girl shot dead for no reason by an illegal immigrant. How sad it is that our country is falling apart internally because we have let a border become so meaningless that anyone can come in at any time. I know the article doesn't mention it because of progressive BS, but there are reports that he was deported three times.

there is no evidence that he was an illegal immigrant, or that this was a random killing.

he was arrested a block away from the victim's home.

Yes, there was evidence. If you had read the article, and comments, it was reported soon after the story broke that he was illegal, had been deported, and was a known felon.

It is now reported that he had been deported five times, and was a 7 time convicted felon/

Until the man is definitely i.d.ed that's the assumption I'm going on (remembering of course I have speculated about Sanchez but not definitely claimed he is an illegal).

He has not been identified by the media (which increases the likelihood of this guy being an illegal) and he was out on bond from a crime in Texas (the main entry point of illegals) when he committed this senseless act of violence.
