Sarah Palin Stands By Slavery Comments

    By Ariel Edwards-Levy | Huffington Post | 11/24/2013 11:41 am EST
    Excerpts:

“Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) said Sunday she accepted MSNBC host Martin Bashir's apology for derogatory remarks he made about her last week after she compared the national debt to slavery. She also said she stood by the comparison.

"The definition of slavery is to be beholden to a master, and we will be beholden when that note is due," she said during an appearance on "Fox News Sunday."

In response to Palin's initial comments, Bashir called her a "world class idiot." He then described a punishment that forced a slave to put "sh*t in his mouth" and said Palin would be an "outstanding candidate" for such a punishment.

Bashir apologized soon after, saying his comments were ‘wholly unacceptable.’ "

    .......

IMO: Only a world class idiot would ever compare our national debt to slavery. They are two different historical events and have no connotstion to one another in the least and any comparison makes one look even more like a world class idiot.

Palin must be mourning her ‘Alaskan notoriety’ where she could demand instant fund raising for herself promising a ‘surprise’ which turned out to be a ghost-wrtten book that her enthusiastic followers were expected to buy after they had donated funds to her for some unknown reason.

But we all can rest now that the gun-shooting, hair-raising, former VP candidate that a senile old republican chose for his running mate in 2008, as he was rumored to be entranced by her ability to sit at a bar late into the night drinking and sharing stories with republican politicians while her husband was asleep in their hotel room.

I wouldn't mind too much a money loan at 1% interest, and would not compare it with slavery, but good business!!

It IS slavery. The almighty government in conjunction with banks..... creates large sums of debt out of thin air while forcing tax payers to cover the interest and fees. It's roughly 400 billion annually just to service our debt. That's what we call a "chain".

That's why I chuckle at "big government" liberals as they ALWAYS end up carrying the bankers water for them.

"Create more debt!" "Create more debt"! :roflol::roflol:

    Dopey's.....

Debt as a form of slavery is a Biblical principle. Sin as a form of slavery is a Biblical principle. Your political correctness is getting the better of you.

Dave Ramsey - The Truth About Debt

According to Proverbs 22:7, "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave of the lender" (NRSV). I was confronted with this scripture and had to make a conscious decision of who was right – my broke finance professor, who taught that debt is a tool, or God, who showed the obvious disdain for debt. Beverly Sills had it right when she said, "There is no shortcut to any place worth going."

    .....

Poor Sarah Palin who is now dumped from Fox News...and that is the place where all republican losers go who have an addiction for the spotlight; now she only goes back for an occasional appearance and goes to Washington for tparty events, firmly believing she is the Vice President.
She will even give you a biblical passage to prove that she is the real VP of America.

Palin is right that debt is a form of slavery. Too bad it's mostly right wing policies that is destroying America's middle and lower class. Palin and the far right just want to be our masters.

Thank you for being intellectually honest. While we disagree as to who is "more" to blame... the fact is BOTH sides sprawl government and spending and therefore WE incur the slave debt, while they vote to reward themselves for the job.

You must admit that the ACA is a debt people are born into, on top of the overall debt referred to. I believe you have to admit that... it is a direct tax on every American.

I feel the ACA has been gutted to the point of impotence. My FIRST option would be to dissolve insurance and allow the free market to make health care out of pocket affordable. But since doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies want insurance so they can overcharge and make billions, I have no choice but to demand single payer !

Biden was not talking about the stupid "debt is the same as slavery" nonsense. He was talking about the cause of the New Depression and how people lived in the 19th century.

The main aspect of slavery is that the slave can't just walk away!

How is debt "slavery" for the Right when they regularly threaten to not pay the debt just to get things their way when they lose a vote in Congress?

"Slavery",the word, doesn't only refer to one historical instance of it. You should look it up. While you are at it maybe you should look into spell check as well. Palin should stand by her comments because she is correct.

Who the hell believes that we are going to repay the National Debt? Debt is NOT a form of slavery. Policies can burden people and make them feel like slaves.

I don't know, but if you think they are ridiculous claims, then you should ask the Huffington Post if they will ever back down from such references; since they seem to use them whenever it suits their purpose:

    Slavery Legal in America Again

Sign New Proclamation Emancipation to Free US From Debt Slavery

    Slaves of WallStreet

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jeffrey-abelson/slaves-of-wall-street_b_569615.html

Tell me how it is, that either you or the OP think you can ever find wisdom in something as partisan and hypocritical as the Huffington Post?

Nah, he was comparing GOP policies to slavery, another ridulous assumption. But since the Vice-Idiot said it, it's something to be applauded.

    Nuance, remember.

I wonder if those who follow the Huffington Post have the intelligence to know the difference between the debt we impose upon ourselves (private debt), and the debt imposed upon us by someone else (public debt).

So tell me this, oh grand followers of the Huffington Post, which is the greater form of slavery?

What is nonsense is that the right compares the National Debt to slavery. Policies can make people feel like slaves.

The right can not comprehend the difference.

Disagree with the word "impose" but the personal debt is far worse. Nobody will be paying back the National Debt.
