He didn't take the Middle East back 20 years he just brought Iran back in.... of course for the Saudi's that probably meant going back 20 years.

He didn't "just" bring Iran in. Meddling in other nations affairs has unintended consequences, and in this instance it emboldened Iran to make a move in Yemen.

    What about Libya?
    What about Egypt?
What about the power vacuum in Northern Iraq and the rise of ISIS?
What about the funding of terror affiliated groups in Syria?

Obama's ME policy was a catastrophe.

Dinesh D'Souza said in his book about Obama that the unifying theme behind Obama's actions wasn't Islam but cultural Marxism. He said once you understand that, everything he did begins to make sense, like embracing Islam and homosexual rights at the same time. So bowing down to the Saudi king and then backstabbing Saudi Arabia by essentially endorsing and financing the Iranian nuclear program also make sense, not because of any consistency in his treatment of the Middle East, but in his program to destroy America's pre-eminent place as leader of the world. Obama said in one of his speeches that he wanted to make America one among many equal nations. But we're NOT equal, we're the world's only superpower.

You could argue Bush's ME policy was the precursor... he did invade in the first place after all

I would just replace "Obama" and "Bush" catastrophe with "US foreign policy" catastrophe, both sucked

I agree. I am no fan of Bush. Absolute catastrophe of a Presidency, but everyone knows this.

By contrast, everyone pretends that Obama was some soft power liberator when nothing could be further from the truth.

I would like to sit down and have a beer with both of them and talk politics. Maybe one day if I go to Hell I'll get the chance.

Obama was pro Iran and anti-Israel or pro-Palestinian if you flip the coin

If the democrats win the next election we're all going to get whiplash as US foreign policy changes again

Hopefully Trump actually follows through and withdraws from Syria.

I doubt it though. Legitimately everyone is against it, especially those who were against the war under Bush.

How to get the anti-war movement to froth at the mouth demanding trillions spent on bombing brown children 9000 miles away - have Trump propose what has been their central policy for at least 2 decades.

Oh he'll withdraw... because he's going to start a new war in Venezuela... not sure exactly how they're going to handle Syria, whether it's PMC's if they can't cut a deal with Assad or Russia

It's more likely he'll take a drive past a grassy knoll in Dallas than he'll successfully withdraw.

Venezuela does indeed worry me. I hate Maduro with a passion and he is undeniably a dictator, but regime change is a failed policy. Let the Venezuelans sort it out.

I dont mind refusing to recognize Maduro, that's fine. Supplying the opposition with weapons would be a step too far imo.

I also dont like them recognizing Guiado, he has just as little mandate as Maduro. They should be clamoring for free elections, not Guiado.

Maduro is so bad. It astounds me that people who think Trump is a dictator think Maduro is not. I cannot fathom it, he has largely ruled by literal dictate since his first election.

I'd like nothing more than for him to get the Ceaușescu treatment, but it has to be by Venezuelans, with Venezuelan weapons, and followed by free elections.

Yes Maduro suck, but is the next guy any better.... likely the only difference is that he is pro-American. Regime change rarely works out for the better, we end up with a bigger mess than before...

I agree on regime change, and while Guiado hasn't had a chance to rule by dictate yet, he is still a far leftist. Who knows.

There is no substitute for a well informed, pro-liberty citizenry.

And (as usual?) giving a crap about if they are bloody dictators which depress their people etc. ... important only to be Pro-American?

And what means for you Pro-American in detail? Not to have own opinions and interests ... or if having, then to subordinate them behind and under the will of the US and the US opinion and interest if being otherwise? Not to say "No" to the US in general?

Enlighten me ... what Pro-American foreign leader means for you?
