Saudi Arabia has said that arming the Syrian rebels is “an excellent idea,” following remarks by US President Barack Obama vowing to use every tool available against Damascus.

    Okay.....
So no problem for Saudis arming rebels to kill Muslims

I'm wondering if someone should start to export some Qurans into Saudia so they can start reading about Islam

And they will openly , as opposed to what they have done secretly already . As will the US and other NATO countries .
As was told and written in the stars .
    Why pretend surprise ?
Syria will be run by Sunnis and act as proxy for the US in some key areas .
    What's new ?

Abu: exactly who wants what in Syria?

Are you still trying to blame the Saudis for events in Libya, Egypt, Syria etc?

I think most of the world just wants the killing to stop.

One more question.. why would you give credence to PressTV?

Who is blaming the Saudis ? People are simply recording what is happening .

Of those connected directly with the "Syrian problem" , I cannot think of any who want the killing to stop .
The US and NATO are happy as Larry at how things are progressing .
The Saudis are more openly supportive of continued blood shed , and against them , Russia will do anything to keep its hold for a whole raft of reasons .

With regard to the mainstream press , I agree whole heartedly

The Saudis have repeatedly called to Assad to stop the killing... so has Qatar and Kuwait.

And don't you double up with laughter?
It's what you do , not what you say and rarely ever what you promise .

I am not following you at all.

The destabilization of Syria was a written goal in Clean Break Strategy..

    The Saudis didn't write that.

    A Clean Break:
A New Strategy for Securing the Realm

Following is a report prepared by The Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies’ "Study Group on a New Israeli Strategy Toward 2000." The main substantive ideas in this paper emerge from a discussion in which prominent opinion makers, including Richard Perle, James Colbert, Charles Fairbanks, Jr., Douglas Feith, Robert Loewenberg, David Wurmser, and Meyrav Wurmser participated. The report, entitled "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm," is the framework for a series of follow-up reports on strategy.

    continued.

    Securing the Northern Border

Syria challenges Israel on Lebanese soil. An effective approach, and one with which American can sympathize, would be if Israel seized the strategic initiative along its northern borders by engaging Hizballah, Syria, and Iran, as the principal agents of aggression in Lebanon, including by:

striking Syria’s drug-money and counterfeiting infrastructure in Lebanon, all of which focuses on Razi Qanan.

paralleling Syria’s behavior by establishing the precedent that Syrian territory is not immune to attacks emanating from Lebanon by Israeli proxy forces.

striking Syrian military targets in Lebanon, and should that prove insufficient, striking at select targets in Syria proper.
Israel also can take this opportunity to remind the world of the nature of the Syrian regime. Syria repeatedly breaks its word. It violated numerous agreements with the Turks, and has betrayed the United States by continuing to occupy Lebanon in violation of the Taef agreement in 1989. Instead, Syria staged a sham election, installed a quisling regime, and forced Lebanon to sign a "Brotherhood Agreement" in 1991, that terminated Lebanese sovereignty. And Syria has begun colonizing Lebanon with hundreds of thousands of Syrians, while killing tens of thousands of its own citizens at a time, as it did in only three days in 1983 in Hama.

Under Syrian tutelage, the Lebanese drug trade, for which local Syrian military officers receive protection payments, flourishes. Syria’s regime supports the terrorist groups operationally and financially in Lebanon and on its soil. Indeed, the Syrian-controlled Bekaa Valley in Lebanon has become for terror what the Silicon Valley has become for computers. The Bekaa Valley has become one of the main distribution sources, if not production points, of the "supernote" — counterfeit US currency so well done that it is impossible to detect.

    Text:

Negotiations with repressive regimes like Syria’s require cautious realism. One cannot sensibly assume the other side’s good faith. It is dangerous for Israel to deal naively with a regime murderous of its own people, openly aggressive toward its neighbors, criminally involved with international drug traffickers and counterfeiters, and supportive of the most deadly terrorist organizations

I support the rebel cause in Syria but I think arming the rebels would be a hyge mistake and a humanitarian nightmare.

All that slows the assad from a complete massacre, a cleansing, of the Rebel areas is the fact that they are too weak. from a military perspective, to resist. Arm them and you create a huge civil war that would draw in Lebanon and Iraq and could last years with the killing of millions of innocents.

The peaceful path will bring about the downfall of the tyrant and the will of the people will be enforced.

Every peaceful protester and innocent Assad orders murdered is another nail in his coffin.

Why bother? Muslims have been killing Muslims for well over a millennium.

If it'll make you feel better, send some Qur'ans to Qatar while you're at it...

Bahrain is a KINGDOM and has been since its independence from Britain in 1972..

Nobody cares what the Kurds think .. nor do the Kurds have any rights to "make" Bahrain a "federal region" of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Nobody knows what to do about Syria.... and Obama has NOTHING to do with Syria or Egypt or Libya.

Only a complete fool would try Bush era regime change doctrine ... Democracy requires historical evolution not top down enforcement with guns.

Some Americans are so immature that they have NO tolerance for not knowing the outcome or blaming others willy nilly.

I guess you have to give a person one point -- for keeping faith with a dream , however far fetched .
America had everything to do with Egypt ( and blew it very badly) and Libya ( Civil War will leave a stench there , if that is how it continues ) .
Naturally Syria is still evolving but the Libya pattern is identical -- America to destabilise by proxy and this time set up Humanitarian Corridors with the possibility of the Red Cross being the leading fall guy .
Until Americans uncouple from Fox and CNN , they will not glimpse the sub text or realise how the US /NATO manipulate matters .
You have to pinch yourself when Americans question the legitimacy of sources like Al Jazeera , Debka and even Umma when they know so little and preach so much .Dumber than Dumb is the old phrase that springs to mind .

Your posts simply make you into the cliche Hilly Billy when you write before engaging your brain .Put on your Listening Ears occasionally !!!.
We have a particular fondness for Al Jazeera as it is modelled on the BBC , and a high percentage of employees come direct from BBC experience -- the elite of global news reporting .It is a million miles ahead of anything that the US has to offer and you should look at it online . It is world leader for presentation and professionalism .Us ( as in we ) included .
I had a reminder experience of Fox last month when I was In Sicily -- only English speaking channel available .
God it is grim , catering for people with attention spans of three minutes maximum and avoiding any depth discussions at all costs .
It is hard for educated people in Europe to understand how America has got left so far behind in communication fields where you make good technical contributions but then simply have no clue how to use these to quality advantage .

Incidentally , check out your Anger Management .
Making personal attacks is not very smart .
Particularly if every assertion is 100% wrong .
It only makes you look so foolish and means we can never take you seriously when you have a better day .
