    Scarborough’s Blistering NRA Attack

By Huffington Post | 01/12/2013 11:45 am EST
    Excerpts:

“Joe Scarborough accused the NRA and gun manufacturers on Friday of making "millions of dollars" off of the "slaughter" in Newtown.

Gun sales have surged in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre and the White House's stated plan to tighten gun laws.

Scarborough, who changed his views on guns after the killings, said that Republicans were wrong to try to block the new measures, and that they were beholden to gun manufacturers and the gun lobby:

"This is not about protecting the Second Amendment. This is about gun manufacturers making millions and millions and millions of dollars. This is about retailers making millions and millions and millions of dollars.

Do you know how much money these people have made over the slaughter of 20 innocents in Newtown? Do you know how much richer these rich gun manufacturers have gotten over the past month and how the NRA uses that tragedy to gin up fears and websites use that tragedy to gin up fears that they're coming to take your guns away? Hey, got a message for you. They can't take your guns away."

    .....

IMO: As in every pay off to Congress, every lobbyist convincing a legislator, it is always about money to be made by someone.

In this case it is about the NRA and retailers who made tons of money off the Newtown Massacres. They already have Congress in their pocket, as well as a fear ridden paranoid segment of our society whose life’s ambition is to run into the streets and shoot everybody that has made his life miserable by wanting to take his binky away from him.

I swear these people were weaned from their mothers’ breasts too early...look at mens’ obsession with guns and breasts. There is a correlation there somewhere that escapes me, but then I am neither a gun or breast fanatic.

But this latest Newtown Massacre of 20 1st graders has prompted a huge populace uproar that will not go away until we restore sanity to the American scene.

How hard this will be is being diagnosed by the White House in its numerous meetings with various organizations which includes the NRA and its offshoots, plus video games organizatrions, religious organizations, and mental health organizations...all there to discuss how to make stricter laws without loopholes, tighten up gun registers and start a huge data base with information on every gun owner in the United States.

The fact that Congress and the White House have been paid off for decades will be a cause to discern any hidden agenda in Congress making new laws.

And every legislator needs to give a written acknowledgment of any/all funds given to him in the last 12 years by the NRA, plus what changes in gun laws were agreed on by both legislaor and NRA in return for these funds.

It's good to know that not all conservatives have jumped the shark. Good morning, Joe!

So the NRA is to blame for sales skyrocketing since the tragedy ?

Give me a break. People themsleves as individuals have assesesd the situation and determined that it's likely guns will be more difficult to obtain in the near future since new laws are likely the outcome of the tragedy.

Would you also be in favor of making them acknowledge all funds they've received from AIPAC? How about labor unions? I guarantee you that funds given by them would make the NRA's money look like pennies.

Squinty LaP has alienated common-sensical Americans with his extremist intransigence.
