I agree with the lawsuit. It will discourage other left educators around the country from violating students rights because they have a personal problem with firearms. An NRA logo is not threatening, and the organization is the leading authority on firearm safety. No organization offers more youth programs about firearm safety. After all ... thats what it's all about right? Keeping the public safe. Gun owners are not some fringe cult. There are over 100 million homes with at least one firearm in it in this country.

I agree. They are suing for $200,000, they should sue for much more than that, and they should go after the teachers and principal directly. Make it so painful that other banners will think twice before pushing their personal politics onto kids.

The question is if the t-shirt violated the policy or not. The courts have ruled that students don't have the same protections in school (though I think those are wrong rulings they exist). If there is a policy and the policy is is applied fairly then there is no reason to sue except it could be just another right wing money grab we see more and more of these days. If they singled this one kid out for his politics and not because there is a specific ban then the school should be held accountable. We will have to see.

This will be a short lived victory. The school board at it's first chance will change the dress code to something along the lines of no pictures of guns allowed.

I agree, we must destroy this sort of idiocy. Sue the people responsible INDIVIDUALLY under 42 USC 1983-violating the constitutional rights of the individual under the color of state law. and sue the school and its board under a theory of "respondeat superior" (the master is responsible for the torts of its servant). Play hardball with these assclowns and make examples out of them so as to create a chilling effect upon the other anti gun cockroaches in administrative positions

I think the kid should augment his wardrobe to include a message saying "YOU are the well regulated militia".
It is appalling that the intent and wisdom of the founders of this Nation has been nullified for those who are responsible for carrying it forward, by those who refuse to accept the truths that we hold to be self evident.
This kid is trying hard to be a REAL American. Those who punish him for it need to be deported.

The shirt, I'm sure would offend B-bird, Imo and a few other posters here if they worked at the school.

But that would make me glad.

Anyway, if shirts and hats with little guns on them are so offensive, then they should also ban gay/lesbo items that many others find offensive: such as rainbow braclets and hairdos.

Especailly offensive symbols like swastikas, communist stars and sickles/hammers, and other horrific emblems like these need removal:

So let me get this right, the State forces children to go to school a place that under court decisions has a right to take away your rights? Is this lunacy or what?

Wear one saying "Molon Labe", or with the Greek letters, and see if they can figure it out.

And if they want to ban Plutarch and Greek history.

I thought I had seen this head line before - numerous times. Seems every six months or so this happens - now if I were a canny advertising agent of the NRA and knew that these stories bolstered our cause I would be more than tempted to fabricate some of them
