I worked in international relations so I know the answer is yes. That has been, and still is, their primary role. AIPAC lobbies on behalf of the US/Israeli interests, the polticians of which push the pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian agenda. The role of the media, in turn, is to reflect this agenda and hence provide an echo-chamber through which this agenda is communicated to the public.

So the public is fed false propaganda. Electoral success in the US is predicated on politicians taking the Israeli position because it is regarded by the public (falsely) as being in their interests when in reality it's in the interests of weak, unprincipled politicians and their unflinching obedience to a ruling class that they unconditionally bend over backwards for. Again, it boils down to a quwstion of mutually-bemeficial relationships where the politicians and the ruling class are the winners and the public, whose pro-Israeli policies wreck lives, are the losers.

Like all modern nations, Israel has a massive PR machine in place. CNN can call the Israel State department and be provided with a long list of eloquent speaking talking heads for the TV. Government officials and representatives for interviews for print media. Palestinians only have 3 or 4 guys who can even converse in English. And they are not very good at ALL when it comes to PR.
