An autonomous vehicle isn't autonomous if it expects input from a human.

Hold them culpable for all mistakes. Where there's a will there's a way.

"You to can become a martyr for autonomous vehicles" is the other side of the coin.

Come on! The images are available, there's a watch for bikes crossing the road sign visible at the point of impact.

Human life cannot be given a dollar value prior to its loss, only after the fact might it be legal and just. Knowingly testing these technologies in environments where innocent people will die is premeditated murder!

Balderdash!! Modern air planes operate in precisely this manner when in auto pilot. Just because the car is in autonomous mode doesn't mean that humans shouldn't be paying attention and over-riding the system if the need arises.

Maybe yes and maybe no, but it's not like there hasn't been a lot of testing put into these vehicles before they were put on the road. What would be your metric as to when they are safe enough? Zero accidents? It's a good thing you don't hold humans to the same standard - we'd never have advanced to the horse and buggy.
