Trump "loaned" his campaign money for the primaries...not quite the same thing "self-financing" it...and took donations in the form of all those lovely red "Make America Great Again" caps, t-shirts, bumper stickers, lawn signs, etc. He even billed the campaign for expenses--gas and maintenance for his plane, for example--that he would have normally had to absorb.

And the rubes ate it up, all the while shouting, "No one owns him! He's in nobody's pocket!"

Now, not only did Orange Crush give Ryan the secret handshake, they own him lock, stock and barrel.

As another great con man...Don King...used to say: "ONLY IN AMERICA!"

Trump is the one who claimed he wasn't like "other" politicians. Now, along with asking for big donations and flip-flopping he's proving he's no different.
