Scott is just saying out loud what most Republican politicians are thinking. If they could, they would get rid of SS and Medicare in a heartbeat, because it would create their utopia of small government and more money for the wealthy. Heck, GWB tried it in 2005 to privatize SS, the first step to completely dismantling it. Luckily, his effort ran into a brick wall.

bush did succeed in partially privatizing medicare/medicaid with part c.

if the insurace companies spent their money on health care rather than marketing (the 24/7 barrage of wm shatner, joe namath andthe walker guy ) the system might be in much better shape.

i get a drug and copay policy with my retirement and medicare so i'm ok with insurance. my wife, on the other hand, went with a plan c thing and i think it was a bad idea (but, it was her idea ....)

https://www.hhs.gov/answers/medicare-and-medicaid/what-is-medicare-part-c/index.html Your wife might pay a little slightly more out of pocket compared to a 100% fully covered plan. The difference however is that she'll potentially covered for way more than a public plan. It's a good option if you're willing to trade off dollars for a more well rounded plan.

But it's not this 'government evil' plan that my dear left wing friends make it out to be. It's an alternative decision we can make for our health.

Yep, republicans want to kill old people, take money from the poor and give it to the rich, fire all doctors, shut down the drug companies, and make war in foreign countries. On the other hand the democrats are perfect. I'm surprised the country survived 8 years of a Reagan presidency. How did Reagan get re-elected with 49 out of 50 states favoring him? Why was the country doing so well under Trump? Are we better off now under Biden than we were under Trump? Silly question.

she (well, "we" which means "me") pays 20% out of pocket and has a much more limited network than i do, but she does have dental and eye.

i recently finished 2 years of chemotherapy . 20% of that would make us exactly as bankrupt and homeless as if i owed the full amount.

Florida PRIDES its self on offering the least ammpunt of public services for the poor of any state in the union.

DeSantis has been caught on tape BRAGGING that he was able to find ways to prevent eligalbe citizens from accessing social services in the state of Florida.

Ahhh, so refreshing to have people call out their OWN party on crappy policy ideas.
I wish the left would do this once in a while.

There is something wrong in American politics when you can bail out Corps ad nauseum and potentially deny the elderly help if they end up needing it when they are seniors and sadly unable to earn a living income if circumstance require. Certainly, it's the right thing to do.

Even Fox News has learned that a large segment of their viewership are in retirement, and these retirees LOVE their monthly Social Security checks and their Medicare coverage from the hated government. They just don't want to pay for any of it through taxes.

Agreed! Most of us will be old someday. And I'm happy that FOX has the guts to call out its own side from time to time. I don't really see this happen on the left though.
