This is a good candidate for Thread of the Month I think. The poster's thoughts are well organized, they include some evidence to back up their statements, and they invite the reader to participate with their own comments. On the next couple of pages he responds to posts with additional information and questions to spur discussion.

I would like to nominate the following thread.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/polit...horities-lose-minds-over-student-s-clock.html

With the stars of the GOP's Clown Show for 2016 taking center stage with their debate, more conservative/neoconservative wackiness has taken place in Texas.

Here is a humorous incident that proves just how easily reactionaries will lose their minds over something completely innocent.

A ninth grade student built an electronic clock with a digital face. The kid then took his project to school to show to his teachers. The first teacher was moderately impressed with the student’s work, but suggested he put the clock away and not show it to anyone else.

Well, the clock's alarm went off later in the day in a different class. But, instead of being impressed with the boy’s ingenuity, the teacher reported the student to the principle who, like the teacher, immediately assumed the clock was a bomb.

Now, with the school administrators losing their minds, they wanted to share the insanity, and since this happened in Texas, law enforcement was only too happy to join in the lunacy. Officers handcuffed and detained the fourteen-year-old in a juvenile center, and his clock was taken away as "evidence."

What makes this a funny event is, all this hubbub would never have happened if the student wasn’t named Ahmed Mohamed. Being in Texas, and because his name is not Billy Bob Smith or Jasper Jones he was automatically branded a terrorist by the “cool heads” that dwell in Texas.

The student’s family worships in a Mosque, couple that with the fact that the student is a whiz with electronics and resides in a state that would elect the likes of George W. Bush and Rick Perry for their governor, it is easy to see why those Texas rednecks would lose their minds over a simple digital clock.

I think it is a brilliant and gutting posting of an opinion of a newsworthy event that takes to task all the foibles of modern living in this country and in this age of instant news/hysteria

Here is a post---actually a thread---that I believe deserves top honors. Not because of the quality of writing but more for gravity, the reality of the content. As the Islamic invasion of the West steps into high gear, there needs to be a more balanced understanding of Islamic people in Western Society----more than just what the talking heads from the MM say. This thread I nominate for Post of the Month:
