How odd. People being shot on sight without due process. Something about civil rights that white thugs with badges don't apply when shooting black people.

Why can't white cops behave to black people as they do to white people? LOADS of people fought with cops on jan 6th. Mostly white. Only one person got shot... with just 1 bullet. Go figure.

You don’t seem to understand the law.
It turns out if you’re a violent and threatening the lives of other people or the police getting shot is not out of order.
Tell me about these loads of people who were violent with the police on 1.6.21 and how that has anything to do with this? More whites people are shot by the police than black people, I guess you missed that one. Wait, is it because more black people react violently when confronted with their crimes?

The other day I got into a conversation with a guy who was upset about "all the darkies in tv commercials". I asked him to expound and he said that he can't turn on any tv station without seeing black people somewhere in every ad. Someone else chimed in and pointed out that is exactly how it's been for all minorities since advertising was invented. The racist guy in the conversation just got more huffy.

That and comments like yours got me to thinking about the WHY behind this particular agenda. What if the *plan* is to upset white people and keep race relations at a stand-still? I don't know one person that has become more tolerant of other races by watching television. I know quite a few that are ticked off that other races of people are shown on television.

So, we have to ask ourselves what role do we play in perpetrating the idea that every other race of people is somehow "lesser" than white people? We can move closer to positive race relations once we can face that head-on.

It doesn't seem to apply to white people attacking cops at the capitol. While this guy was just driving away,...not threatening any life.
So we're clear on the law alright. White cops don't apply it on black people, and people are noticing it.

Uh... they attacking and threatening the lives of cops. The entire world saw how the cops cowered away at that point instead of shooting at them. While they got no problem shooting a black guy driving away.

More white people... but % it's more black people BY A LOT. Brown little kid with his hands up, just got shot. This guy driving off just got shot. An other dude got shot by a gimp thinking it was a taser, to than watch on for minutes how he died. Floyd just got lynched over nothing. It's just typical.

Mind showing white people being violent with the police? You know, people with felony warrants who are under arrest and fighting? Holding weapons? You know, like the recent spat of black people doing just that?

don’t get me started on the gang member who ran from the cops and hid the gun behind his back. Man, that was pretty funny. Your white guilt is ruining any ability to see reason.

This is kind of getting off-topic, but I want to comment about tv ads lately.

Seeing black people in ads doesn't bother me. What does bother me about a lot of ads I'm seeing lately is a lot of mixed couples, almost like you can't just show a straight-up white/black/brown/Asian couple. We're being bombarded with this "mixed" message. Sometimes these ads have improbable kids from these match-ups, though I suppose you could infer they're stepkids or maybe adopted. One in particular that comes to mind shows a white dad dancing with his Asian daughter.

I have no problem with who somebody chooses to love and make a family with, but I don't like corporations shoving a social agenda down my throat.

How does showing an interracial couple or multi-racial family shoving it down your throat?

The degree to which it is shown is way out of proportion to reality; to the point of pushing a social agenda.

If you read that tv was showing *an* inter-racial couple, then you totally misread my post.

In advertising now there is a far higher percentage of black people being used. Definitely being over represented. It’s only noticeable because of high far the pendulum has swung. It’s over done. It’s not like ads were ONLY white people before. It was just closer to a realistic representation of demographics.

It’s like how far Disney has shifted everything. You can see how blatant the effort is to force race or gender where it was a more reflective of the audience before. Now it’s front and center. SEE. LOOK. ITS A SHE. And look that character is GAY...LOOK!!! Don’t you SEE IT?? Make sure you SEE IT!!! It’s one way to appreciate British shows. There are gay people and they’re there because they’re just there. It’s not about BEING GAY!!! Check it off the list. Woman!!! Check!!! Gay black male!!! Check!! Asian bisexual!!! Check. We’ve lost our minds.

No, I didn't read it as a one-shot deal. I'm just unclear on how ANYTHING on television is pushing an agenda. We all have the power to change the channel. We all have the power to completely ignore what we've seen. We all have the power to mentally discard things we don't like.

I mind, since we all know the stats already. % wise, more unarmed black people are killed... by a lot. I just put up multiple examples how the predominantly white force of thugs gets to kill black people posing no thread. People are noticing.

It's still killing an unarmed brown kid, posing no thread since he put his empty hands up as commanded, by a white thug with a badge. And you find it funny he got killed? You know. It does not surprise me. It's more like: typical.

Its fact. Start paying attention. It’s not just 1. It’s everywhere. There is an unusually high proportion of what they want to show that is NOT in any way representative of what is. And it’s so blatant you can’t look away.

Did you feel this way when commercials were all or predominantly white? Every other racial groups has had to live with all (or nearly all) white advertisement for centuries. Why was it okay then but it's not okay when other races are depicted?

I noticed it without paying attention. It's everywhere and it's way out of proportion.

It's like some weird woke affirmative action.

When that occurred, the country was PREDOMINANTLY WHITE! Or those actually spending money on products were WHITE!! Our country is not 50/50 white/black, but if you watch ads you’d think that. Our country doesn’t have an equal number of every race but if you watch ads you’d think that now. When I see an ad showing Fighter pilots in the military it ain’t mostly women but you wouldn’t know it. When they show a Fire Fighter there’s not a lot women except on TV. When I see a gamers in ads they’re more girls than boys. When I watch E-tournaments there are no girls because they can’t compete. When I see doctors and lawyers in ads it’s amazing how there’s 1 black for every white. NOT reality. And how many mixed race families are there, because on TV everyone is mixed race, hehe. Sorry, still pretty rare. But if they need to show a criminal element, ALWAYS WHITE. Depression? Mostly white people. This is NOT an accident.

Maybe you can make the case that they are positive-freedom liberals in that they view laws and government as their "powerful friends" rather than a harm to their liberty. This is already going deeper into theory and ideology than I presume they have ever gone themselves, but it describes the position taken by the hate-speech types, anti-abortion advocates, firearm regulators and so on. In some cases the law is our "powerful friend", like speed limits or laws that prohibit murdering your neighbor and taking their property, but modern-day "liberals" have gotten it in their head that government can and should take this approach in universal fashion.
It was actually a depressing moment for me when one of my professors was talking about his time as a Congressional staffer and told us that there is no application for ideological theory in politics (in a philosophy course, no less). Same with a very talented scientist who told us that there is no application for political philosophy in political science.

I doubt that 99% of our elected officials have any strong ideological intuitions or beliefs.
But I think libertarians are just more attuned to liberal theory in the same way that Mill and Locke were instead of Rousseau or FDR. Libertarian Donald Allen described the issue as "paternalism" (the doctrine that the state knows better than its citizens) but even he follows from negative-freedom liberalism. It would be nice to see libertarians drag the country back in that direction but it seems hopeless.

That "brown kid" was a gang banger with a gun, but the way you want to portray him he was about to graduate med school. It was funny, pley stupid games wins stupid prizes. Keep making excuses for criminals, that's how society gets better, right?

All I am reading again that this brown kid does not have any rights and so it's not so bad he got executed, while he got rights like everybody else. Seems you got a problem with brown kids having civil rights. Maybe you should move to North Korea where they don't do civil rights.

I don't know where you could get such an idea. I think it would go a world of way for those of us who don't see all the "virtue-signalling," that some of you do, if you pointed out, in exactly what places, you perceive this happening.

The reason that the man's color is mentioned, it seems obvious to me, is the presumption by the reporter & news agency, that it was a probably a large factor in the fact that the cop opened fire at all. I don't know, certainly, whether or not that is true, in this case; but even the thread's starter, @Woogs , though he answers Steve N. that he should, "ask ABC," as to why the man's race is an issue, begins his OP with, "And here's another one," by which, while he could say he just meant one more police shooting in the news, it would take a special set of blinders to not identify that nearly all the other ones, also involved black victims. The news, therefore, covers it as an apparent pattern, indicative of a systemic problem of unequal, racist, treatment of black criminal suspects & offenders, overall, by police.

I repeat, here, that I am giving no opinion on the particulars of this incident, about which I know very little. I am explaining to those who are unclear as to the media's rationale, what seems clear to most, is their perspective. As I noted at top, I think it would facilitate better communication, if someone who sees this as some sort of media construct, to walk the rest of us through the signs of this, which are so pronounced in your own eyes.

Where does it say gang members have the right to commit crimes and disobey the law? I’ll wait.

One less drug dealer in the world? I can wait 'til they get judicial approval to release the video. Ben Crump is not a credible source of information. He tells lies.
