    Your ego is far larger than your knowledge level. I said in the very beginning if the cop had evidence he could arrest me. Now a witness is certainly evidence, so long as he can positively identify you, he has the right to take any action associated with arrest including a search.

    Now in the case where the witness is not able to identify you, the circumstances are completely different. If a cop stops you and say's someone who looks like you stole someone's phone and asks you to empty your pockets, you can tell him to pound sand and ask him what is his probable cause for a search. Reasonable suspicion is not legal grounds for a search. If he cannot come up with probable cause then he is obligated to release you at that point if you ask to leave. If you need anything else explained to you so you will not feel 100% correct in error please continue this debate and I will be happy to school you further.
