Well, it seem that we have the perfect opportunity to observe what the gun addicts have said for so long: That if the "other guy" was armed, it would save life! Apparently (preliminary reports from CNN) an argument between two people armed with guns turned out really deadly, as they shot at each others, one got hurt, the other got away. . .and two "by standers" were CAUGHT IN THE CROSS FIRE. In addition, one other by stander suffered a heart attack. Yep. . .it certainly does appear that if one carries a gun, one is safer. . .and everyone else around him, right?
There are no further information as yet. One of the shooter got hurt and is in custody. The other has disappear. . . Whether they are teachers, or students, or one of each. . .it isn't known yet. People hurt shouting (as in an argument), then about 6 shots. Nothing else as yet. - - - Updated - - - There are no further information as yet. One of the shooter got hurt and is in custody. US gun death toll SINCE Sandy Hook 926 and counting... As the world looked on in horror at the savage shootings in the hilly Newtown community of Sandy Hook on 14 December, Robyn Griggs-Johnson was in the living room of her family home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was late in the day, hours after Adam Lanza opened fire on a group of defenceless children and their teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary. Ms Griggs-Johnson heard a knock at the door. When she opened the window to see who it was, she was shot, according to the local Michigan Live news website. The case remains unresolved. A day later, as more details emerged from Newtown, a three-year-old boy in Guthrie, Oklahoma, was visiting his aunt and uncle when he reportedly found a loaded handgun in the their bedroom. He took hold of the weapon and accidentally shot himself in the head. The deaths are among the hundreds of instances of gun-related fatalities cited by President Barack Obama this week as he unveiled the most far-reaching measures to stem gun violence in decades. “In the month since 20 precious children and six brave adults were violently taken from us at Sandy Hook Elementary, more than 900 of our fellow Americans have reportedly died at the end of a gun – 900 in the past month. And every day we wait, the number will keep growing,” he said. MORE here : http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...-gun-death-toll-since-sandy-hook-8456453.html ..
Guns in general do not kill people, its some other underlying issue with Americans. Why is America so violent, and why do Americans go off half cocked at every little thing. I think its a culture more than a gun issue, Americans intellectually are underdeveloped and see violence as a solution to problems. Americans are culturally poor, having been able to travel the world I can see that Americans have been told for too long they are smart, they are the best country in the world, when in reality America is a pretty uncultured, intellectually bankrupt nation. This goes for both sides of the aisle.
Moon . I swear. + looking back , the school I went to, if any of my teachers carried guns , its unlikely that less than half pupils in my class would have survived. IMO - a better idea would be to arm each pupil . (wink)
This is the case of two jackasses, probably with illegal weapons being illegally carried, doing what dumb jackasses do. It has nothing to do with using firearms in defense of innocent people and these two jerks need to be chucked in the slammer for 40 years.
All of a sudden I should start crying and genuflect to my fascist President Barrak "Qu**r-in-chief" Obama and look to him like a holy Jesus savior of the state? F-YOU. The owner of the weapon should be charged with neglegent homicide and spend 20 years in the slammer in addition to having to live the rest of their days in perpetual mourning over the loss of the child, punishment served. But what does this have to do with the right of the people to bear and keep arms? For the 900 or so hand picked incidents you bring up, I can pick 900 more where law abiding owners sent some perp scumbag to the great beyond for their stupidity or a few cases where men and women are now serving time for killing the low life pedophile who raped their child. When the law, especially in liber-fascist states like California and Oregon refuse to sentence child rapists to life time prison terms, I support the freedom of parents who are forced to take the law to their own hands and free society from deviant scumbags. Barrak Obama can take his crock tears and go to hell.
I'm kind of surprised that you would say this, but I actually agree somewhat. It's not that we're stupid -- it's mostly just that whole "best in the world" mentality that leads to an arrogant way of dealing with things. Canadians, by comparison, are a lot more levelheaded -- with the exception of some of their hockey fans.
When the police and militaries of the world decide to give up their guns, I'll be fine with getting rid of mine.
Not specifically, but a common argument against guns seems to suggest that they can't be used for defensive purposes. If that's true, then no police or military needs them.
This is the future if the 'more guns reduces shootings' crowd gets their way. A bunch of students running around with guns along with a whole lot of security guards and teachers/profs with guns all trying to save the world. Campus shootings will be a daily event.
I believe I understand why our Founding Fathers enumerated not just any militia, but a well regulated militia as being necessary to the security of a free State.
