I understand and I have had it a lot longer than you have but, keep your eye on groups like Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Everytown for Gun Safety , Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and a number of other heavily financed groups that have many operatives in major cities. They have received well over $50 million from Bloomberg and they work on a city level. Major left leaning cities like Dallas, and Austin are easy targets so don't think they are not coming after you. My son lives in Allen and he is well aware of their presence as they start through the school boards.

I think removing the gun show loopholes and removing the rights of gun ownership to the mentally unstable and criminals would be the place to start and then the laws should evolve with technology....certain types of assault rifles don't make sense for personal ownership. I would never own a gun...don't need one...but I know a lot of people that need rifles because of where they live or because they hunt...and handguns should be choice for law abiding citizens.

The same reason that it doesn't make sense for people to have land mines or hand grenades or rocket launchers. Because they have the capability to do massive amounts of harm to others and they its completely unnecessary for ordinary citizens to have weapons of war and mass destruction in their homes. And there have been plenty of law abiding citizens who've never committed a crime before who have gone out and committed mass murders. Being a criminal isn't the only criteria...
