IF, and only if, Iran is stupid enough to attack the United States directly the we certainly should respond by eliminating every single possible future threat they might conceivably pose.

I think Trump is harassing Iran because he believes if he gets us involved in a new war, the American voters won't change leaders during a war. This helps keep him in power. Trump is so predictable, I'm shocked his supporters aren't bright enough to figure him out. I'm even more shocked to see how little his supporters care about the negative ways Trump impacts our country. If Trump is what they regard as a good leader, I'm really concerned about their love of country &/or patriotism.
Not necessary to destroy, kill, or invade Iran. If Iranian forces attack US forces and/or our nation's interests, all we need to do is seed the waters of all four Iranian oil terminals* with mines. Easy-peasy! * Asaloyeh Iranian Bay Neka Khark Island...this is the most important of the four.
I've hated and loathed those crazy, murderous bastards in Iran ever since they invaded our embassy in Tehran, and took American citizens as hostages, for 444 long, miserable, gut-wrenching days. They've been an unending pain in our ass ever since.... Now, after having made fools out of the Obama regime while they press on with their effort to construct thermonuclear hydrogen bombs and mount them on ballistic missiles, Iran bristles at the Trump Administration for throwing a monkey wrench in their plans. They're making all kinds of new threats and behaving like they're the undisputed masters of the INTERNATIONAL waterways of the Persian Gulf.... As far as I'm concerned, the first time that those arrogant sons of bitches makes any aggressive, hostile moves of ANY kind against the United States or our allies, Trump ought to give the piss-proud Muslim 'priesthood' that rules Iran a real-time feel for what it means to threaten the United States! And, no, I'm not talking about all the "glass parking lot" hyperbole. Several days of very conventional, non-nuclear THERMOBARIC WEAPONS would definitely 'get the point across'.... Very quickly, Iran's religious overlords would find that there's no toilet paper left in the stores to wipe their asses with after they experience the 'shock and awe'. And, in fact, there wouldn't be any stores, either, or even any streets on which you could drive to get to where the stores used to be.... But, NO INVASION. Just bomb the damned thing from the air -- don't send in any troops. If we do, the next thing you know, some moron will decide that we need to blow billions of dollars rebuilding Iran like we've had to do with Iraq, next door.... Just bomb it, and leave it alone. And, if necessary, bomb it again.... . -- "Hey, Hassan, you better check this out!"
First, just wanna say how glad I am that you're not part of our Diplomatic Corp. Second, I want to remind you that the U.S. under Eisenhower took out a democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran in 1953, and installed a hated monarchy under the Shah. The Shah was overthrown by the current Islamic Revolutionaries in 1976, and it was they who kidnapped our diplomats. The Iranian people themselves haven't really had a free voice in their government since 1952. Generally speaking, the people of Iran like the U.S. & Americans. The leaders don't. Guess who gets victimized by that. Your military response idea would assuredly make an impact on the Iranian leadership, but whether to discourage them or motivate them toward more violence is hard to say. Historically speaking, bombing doesn't work very well in winning surrenders--the London Blitz is a good example. The other bad part of your idea is that literally thousands of innocent Iranian families would be killed in such an attack, and these would be largely people who had nothing whatsoever to do with the issues between Iran & the U.S.--and in many cases, people who privately admire the U.S. & Americans. Many Iranians hate their Islamic government, but are powerless to oppose it openly. We'd be killing many of those in such an attack. Because of these considerations, I'd have to oppose your idea.
Yes, he has a long history of saying so....he even accused Obama of trying to start a war to get reelected...and so he thinks it's a really good idea no matter who it kills, no matter how many innocent lives are lost. I'm not...I know some.... They can't see it because the negative things are what they LOVE! Don't be....they have none...
