I believe the child support system is flawed, for several reasons. My main belief is that it does not do, or more specifically, does far more, than it is intended to do. Guidelines are intended to keep the child in the same financial situation they would have been in if the parents were living together with them.

They add a burden on noncustodial parents by making them pay more than is financially necessary to support the child, and also, more money than they normally would to support them, despite the guidelines intending to be for the best interests of the child. Child support is for the CHILD. Not for mothers to collect money for themselves. But unforuntately, the current legal guidlines creates situations where stuff like that happens in. It doesnt happen always, but it's quite common. I can give a few examples of that.

There are no laws allowing child support discounts if a custodial parent remarries (or marries), nor are there laws saying that they can pay less support if the the custodial parent makes much more money or has a higher standard of living than the custodial one. In both of those situations, the extra sources of income (a stepparent or richer parent) means that some of that extra money probably goes to the child, which makes part of the child support payments not needed and just go to the pockets of the parent who has custody, to use for other reasons.

As this article says, http://www.familylawrights.net/blog/are-you-paying-too-much-child-support/, parents who share custody or have more visitation have to pay much less child support than those who do not. I dont believe the basic financial needs of the child have any connection to that.

Read these articles which express similar opinions.

    Yep. 100%
It shouldn't require a poor mother to hire lawyers to fight for child support just because of the father or donor lives in a different town or state.

What do you mean by that? The law already allows parents to get support from somebody living in a different town, state, or even country. It's already a legal right. I dont see any reason why that should be changed.
