Clinton has no say in the results if the election isn't rigged.

I thought neither candidate did well. Hillary reinforced my worst fears about her as president, and Donald is an imbecile. I will not vote for either. I hope that we can survive until 2020, but I can say very clearly: Neither is worthy of being Obama's successor.

After last night's debate, it appears that the reality tv performer is hellbent upon running up the score against himself.

He virtually assured his mindless cult that their votes won't matter, because the "thousands and thousands" of imaginary folks he sees cheering in New Jersey are the tip of the iceberg of millions and millions of dead men voting.

    I can't argue with that.

He will spend the next two weeks validating their persecution complex. It will all be about how the system is rigged against the little guy, look what they did to me!

    Some leader!

Candidates have no say in election results. Ballots are tabulated independently by election officials in the nation's approximately 13,000 local election jurisdictions.

State election authorities are then responsible for computing and certifying the results of the state's Presidential electors' vote for U.S. President and Vice President.

The electoral votes for U.S. President and Vice President received from the States are read before both houses of the U.S. Congress and the total is officially tabulated and certified
by that body on January 6 following every quadrennial national election.

The "system" is specifically rigged against the little guy that loses nearly a billion dollars within a year because of bad business decisions, and freeloads off the nation for decades as a consequence.

It is a harrowing tale that tugs at the heartstrings of anyone alienated from America.

We've had in the last two senate majority leaders two who always put their party first and the country way down on their list of priorities. I said a long time ago that Garland ought to be given his day in the senate, his nomination brought to the floor for a vote, up or down. The GOP has 54 senators and if they don't like him, that is more than enough to vote him down. But give him his hearing.

I also said once Clinton wins and the Democrats gain control of the senate, she would nominate a much more liberal judge and the Republicans would be very sorry they hadn't acted on Garland. No foresight or esp there, it was all in the numbers even back then. As far as I am concerned, this election was over right after the New Hampshire GOP primary when it became apparent Trump would be their nominee. Hillary was certain to become the next president.

I miss senate leaders like Daschel and Lott, Mitchell and Dole and those who have gone before them. Senate leaders who worked together and didn't put their political party above country. Reid and McConnell in my opinion have been the worst two senate leaders since I can remember, perhaps in the history of this country.

I first thought that the reality tv performer underscored his eminent unsuitability for the office when he cruelly mocked a handicapped reporter for the egregious crime of not having backed him up regarding his hallucination of "thousands and thousands" cheering in New Jersey. Consider the impact upon the similarly-afflicted kids who saw that repugnant public display by someone who aspired to lead their nation.

Curiously, the good and the bad seem to come in pairs. Perhaps, they emulate their opposite numbers, and all it takes to break the pattern is one with courage.

Now that is something I never thought of. One with courage to break the polarization and the party first mentality. You may have something there.

Mitt Romney should lock the hateful, snivelling, dog, Trump, in that dog cage he keeps on top of his car. Then he should race down the highway to scare the hell out of Donald -- just to get even with Trump for making the Republican party’s brand stink, even worse than it stunk, before.

    - McConnell stated that the number one objective for congress was the failure of the US president. And, he's worked on that objective ever since, blocking progress on the courts and preventing most progress, making the Senate the most unproductive of any in the modern era.

    - Under Reid, we got a bi-partisan immigration bill that passed the Senate and would have passed the House if Boehner (who also dedicated himself to the failure of the US president) had allowed it to come to a vote. Today, every element in that bill is touted by representatives of both parties.

I know it's cool to pick someone from each side, but suggesting there is some sort of equivalence here is absolutely ridiculous.

McConnell has a 16% approval rating... the lowest of anybody in American politics...

Trump has certainly done MAJOR damage to his party.

Every problem identified by the Preibus memos on the 2012 and 2008 elections has been made made FAR worse by Trump.

The idea that someone with Clinton's abysmal favorability factor is actually reasonably close to a landslide victory should have the R's in a panic - not just for this race, but for what they HECK they are going to do after November.

Reid didn't allow a vote on over 400 house passed bills, tabled them all. 30 of those bills were sponsored by Democrats in the House and the House Democrats begged Reid to bring them up. He wouldn't do it. Then there was Reid's nuclear option. There was nothing bipartisan about Harry Reid. With Reid it was always party first.

So, Reid opposed people of his own party and you call that "party first"???

The nuclear option thing came as a response to the scorched earth policy of McConnell to prevent all progress - a further demonstration of McConnell's treatment of the Supreme Court.

Reid is certainly a Democrat, but let's remember that congress wasn't this dysfunctional when Bush was president.

Reid didn't declare that the objective of his Senate was to cause the failure of the American president.

My vote in this presidential election was sealed the day Mitch McConnell stated: that his “priority” is to make sure Barrack Obama a one term President.

The Republicans in congress have been (even more) worthless since that day and, if anything, have only gotten worse. Their refusal to do their job in regard to President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee is just one more example of how worthless republicans have become. Imo, these GOP politicians are unAmerican in their attitude toward our elected president. They are guilty of dereliction of duty, and they are a disgrace to their office.

And to put yet another nail in the GOP coffin, they nominated Donald Trump to run for president. A misogynist, racist, fraud, liar, sexual predator, etc. Grand Old Party, Lol...

Reid and McConnell are two of a kind. The reason Reid didn't allow those bills sponsored by House Democrats to come up for a vote, he was too interested in maintaining his majority leader position and he didn't want senate democrats to have to vote against their constituents or the wishes of the folks back in their home state. Everything Reid did was for the Democratic Party and for him to maintain his senate leadership position.

I realize a Democrat would never believe that, that is the way partisan politics is played. My side is always right, the other side always wrong, it is always my way or the highway. Another Reid invention. The biggest problem in Washington D.C. is the polarization where our elected official are Republicans and Democrats first, Americans somewhere down the line.

Clinton isn't much better. There is a reason Clinton is disliked by over half of all America. She is one lucky lady the GOP did nominate Trump who is liked even worst than Clinton. What does that say about our two major parties when they choose someone whose is seen in a positive light by only 40% of all Americans. The other party chooses a candidate even worst with only 32% of all America seeing him positive. Talk about two bottom of the barrel dregs.

This is what our two major parties have given us to choose from. A pick your own poison election. By contrast in 2012 Obama was seen in the positive by 55% and Romney by 51% of all Americans. 2008 Obama was seen in a positive light by 61% and McCain by 57% of all Americans. 2004 Bush 53%, Kerry 51%, 2000 Bush 58%, Gore 55%, 1996 Bill Clinton 55%, Dole 51% and in 1992, Bill Clinton 51% and Bush the elder 46%.

Until this year Bush the elder held the record for the lowest favorable rating at 46%. Both Hillary Clinton 40% and Trump 32% are smashing his record. Neither is liked outside of their avid supporters, it just happens Hillary is disliked a bit less and thus will be the victor.

Good post. Everything you’ve said is true.

Like many here, I’m a political junkie, so I’ve followed the race from the beginning. I couldn’t believe Clinton and Trump were chosen to run. I was angry that we had little choice in the matter, except to vote for the “lesser of two evils.”

If either party had selected a ‘decent’ candidate, they would have won in a landslide. How did the party leaders not see this? Why did they settle for these two losers? No one in D.C. seems to be willing or able to do their job, anymore. And, as usual, the American people will end up the real losers (again).

I totally agree. Those in D.C. have become obsessed with party over country. They totally forget they should be Americans first, then Republicans and Democrats. Gallup had a poll a while ago which showed 25% of all Americans dislike both Trump and Clinton. Hence your lesser of two evils. What was worst, 54% of all independents dislike both candidates. Who do you vote for when you dislike both candidates running? Today, I chose a third option when I voted early, Third Party. A vote against both and not a vote for the lesser of two evils. When one does that, evil still ends up in the oval office.

Now I can understand the idea behind choosing the lesser of two evils or the least worst candidate. One knows one of those two will end up in the White House. One hopes by voting for the lesser of two evils, he or she won't do that much damage to this nation. But I am tired of seeing damage done even if it is the lesser amount of damage. Time to take a stand. Even if that stand is done by one lone voter.

I found the Gallup poll, here it is:

I think the only response to those that support Clinton and think they have it in the bag is short, and as sweet as orange blossom honey..

    DRIP, DRIP, DRIP....

And we still have the best, saved for last. The kill shot.

Blaming Russia for the corruption of Hillary and the DNC, here, let me use what Bill once said..."that dog won't hunt".

This sound will forever haunt her, the DNC and her supporters.....DRIP, DRIP, DRIP.

For those that want to blame Russia, and who say like Hillary does, that our intel says it is Russia, you must remember that we went to war in Iraq, invaded a sovereign nation, over something those same intel groups said was truth.

So, who is the mole within the Clinton campaign? The dead guy who got shot from behind twice, and yet no one even took his wallet? The person that assange offered a reward of 10 grand for any tips that lead to finding the assassin? Why would assange offer such a reward for a staffer who worked for the DNC? And how assange had no way of knowing the victim? So just a stranger that worked for someone assange hates, because she wanted to drone him, and murder him, no court, no rule of law? Connect the dots. Assange already told us who leaked, a mole, by his very odd comments and offer.

Assange deserves the medal of honor, for exposing what a press that speaks truth to power should have revealed.

Wikileaks has been a bigger dud than the zombie clown the GOP nominated. Nothing of consequence has emerged from these leaks, no matter how many mountains out of molehills you make.

By actively cheering Assange and Putin in their quest to influence our elections, conservatives have shown themselves to be the phony patriots we've always known them to be. They are Confederate flag-waving traitors through and through. False patriots.
