Not in my world. I rule.

I am tough, but I am fair, and they all know it.

Have no fears, when you allow them to ban speech, you have opened the door for them to ban something else. Its just a matter of time. Enjoy the road to oppression, you deserve it.

"When you prevent them from banning one thing, you prevent them from banning anything. Enjoy the road to anarchy."

See how stupid a slippery slope argument sounds when it goes against your preference?

Not so. What you ignore is the baseline. In a free country, like the US, freedom of speech is nearly absolute, all that can be done is to restrict it further. Should that path be taken, we will deserve our road to oppression as well. Your analogy fails.

There have been all sorts of varying restrictions to rights and freedom throughout the history of the US (such as the little matter of being black and having any freedom at all for quite a while) yet you seem to have avoided what you might consider oppression. My point stands that slippery slope arguments are generally stupid.

What you are refering to is a bit more complex, generally applies today's standards to the past, which is intellectually dishonest, and a completely different conversation than the topic of free speech.

it is not complex swearing can fall into the category of hate speech and that was never the driving force behind free speech.

Hate speech is completely ridiculous. I don't get this utter inconsistency in Liberals... why don't you support a woman's choice to swear in public!?!?!

As a free people, we don't have laws against hate speech. Only oppressive Marxist believe that speech must be restricted, less someone's feeling get hurt, and as a stepping stone to further their oppressive concepts to destroy all free peoples across the globe.

You are the biggest hypocritical on here huh...just what, 2 weeks ago, you thought there should be a law passed to stop preaching in public because noone wanted to hear it, but now, you are against this law. You can't have it both ways sweetie....

IMHO....there should not be a restriction of either cussing or of preaching. Cussing can also fall very easily under the disorderly conduct laws already on the books

I do believe I came around and agreed that they shouldn't banned from preaching. Seems you forgot that.

We don't have many preachers here, at least not ones who do it in public. We do have a lot of teenagers who hang out at the mall and who swear. I guess that's why they wanted to ban it.

You do realize that its the morality police that put such measures up. Aren't you bi/or whatever? This sort of think should drive you to oppose such marxist measures. Alas, you may well be an indoctrinated sheep, enjoy your oppression, you asked for it.

Sorry, there are times when profanity should not be allowed. When young children are present is only one of them.

Personally, at my age, I rather like hearing profanity, it lets me know immediately who the idiots are.

    Stupid idea.

I've never understood the negative connotations of cuss words.

(*)(*)(*)(*), for example. (*)(*)(*)(*) and poop have the same meaning. They even have the same number of letters, but for some reason its bad to say one of them and not the other.

What makes it even more interesting, is the one thats been deemed a "bad word" is also the more useful of the two.

    Example...
I feel (*)(*)(*)(*)ty today...... as opposed too
    I feel poopy today

(*)(*)(*)(*) (f-word) is probably the most useful word in the english language. It works as a verb, adverb, adjective, expletive, pronoun, etc.

The idea of cuss words being "bad words" has just never made sense to me.

Banning cuss words is stupid, ill agree with that. That being said, what the (*)(*)(*)(*) does it have to do with Marxism?

Marxism is the root of many modern evils. So it should be brought up and exploited for the worthless ideology that it is at every turn. Marxism and the control it gives government is completely opposite to the vision the Founders had and the freedom they gave us. If these Aussies and others want to bring oppression upon themselves, I'm all for it, just keep it out of America. Only fools desire more oppression. Governments are all corrupt, they are a centralized power, we should all be working to displace their role to the most mundane of things, so as to leave ourselves with the greatest range of freedoms, so long as we are not oppressing each other. Laws are created to control us, wanting more laws is simply wanting to be more controlled.

Only children and fools would use either of your choices.

Personally, I would say, "wow, what a horrible day, my knee is really aching like never before." Or, I might say, "I woke up this morning with a terrible headache and it just keeps getting worse and worse".

Learn English and get over foolish, childish, language.

You cannot have freedom without responsibility! But, since so many refuse to accept responsibility for their actions, we have laws, against theft, murder and the rude use of language in certain circumstances. Nothing is wrong with enforcing responsibility via law.

See, wouldn't use any of those words. I probably say 'Gee I feel like (*)(*)(*)(*) today'. I guess the younger generation are more likely to speak like that then to worry about offending someone.

So when you don't like something, you automatically label it Marxist? Please show me where in any of Karl Marx's writings, he says anything about banning cuss words, and then maybe ill accept that ur not a partisan hack.
