I think you may put it a little more strongly than I, because I do think that there are some constructive benefits to social scorn of politically offensive and unpopular speech. Its not such a horrible thing if a church or private club or your bridge foursome exerts some pressure against your socialist or white supremist views that are inconsistent with the norms of the community and it is nearly impossible to stop, but when there are serious economic or legal ramifications, those repercussions can decimate an already vastly uncommon idea and that is bad news. So yes I do believe Archie Bunker should keep his job at the plant, and be able to sign a petition to keep the neighborhood Caucasian, and yes I do expect to have to work professionally side by side with a homophobe or two, even though I am gay and he has that 'Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve' bumper sticker on his car.

Ah. I thought you were talking about name-calling and such. Verbal threats and brandishing weapons are an entirely different matter and should be illegal.

I think we can chisel it down to bad legislation.

Calling a spade a spade shouldn't be politically incorrect or a crime.

If a criminal sociopath who gets off by kicking people in the balls sees two white males, one straight male and the other a gay mals and kicks both males in the balls, is arrested and convicted in court. The sociopath is sentenced to six months in the county jail for kicking the white straight male in the balls and since the white gay male is a protected group, enhanced sentencing comes into play and is sentence to five years in a maximum security prison.

Now if the sociopath is an illegal alien from Mexico and the crime took place in California, the illegal alien sociopath is also a protected group and Gov. Jerry Brown pardons the illegal alien sociopath so he will not be deported.

Such protections should be limited to involuntary states. Race, Gender, Disability, etc. They should NEVER be extended to religion, 'creed', politics, sexual preferences, or any other optional behaviour.

So should Antifa be protected because they believe their violent acts are justified, are a part of their political manifesto? I've been thinking that it ought to be a crime to wrap yourself in the first amendment to justify acts of terrorism. You cannot yell fire in a theater, your first amendment rights end when you throw your first punch. In my opinion groups like Antifa should be banned from peaceful demonstrations if they show up masked, in riot gear and are carrying anything that could be used as a weapon, I am shocked that they've been allowed to do what they have so far, it's only emboldened them. This sort of thing creates a lust for power that can only be satisfied by escalated violence. How long before they bring guns to these events? I was around when the Weather Underground were bombing and killing in the 1970s. Innocent people were maimed or killed by these crazoids in the name of, surprise, surprise, communism. Antifa is a carbon copy of the Weather Klan. I think that this being America you are entitled to peace no matter what your political beliefs so long as those beliefs don't become weaponized. I also think that politically inspired crimes should carry stiffer penalties than ordinary or random crimes.

I agree, it's pretty clear that Antifa doesn't show up to counter protest. A lot of us wonder why it's allowed to continue. But to say that Antifa could potentially have their acts of violence protected is a non-starter. Assault and vandalism are both illegal acts.

I think white male smokers deserve protected class status.
