Since none of dem poors in the US is actually poor, as our much-vaunted high-info voters always tell us, would criminalizing fake "poverty" give these lazy (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)es more of an incentive to pull some bootstraps?

According to our eminent and much-vaunted high-information voters, the answer to that is yes.

Here is an example of a piece written by a very high-information voter. These people are so smart, did you know that there was also barely any racial discrimination against blacks in the period from 1890-1940 compared to today?

They can try but instead of paying welfare they'll be paying prison upkeep... And the there won't be minimum wage workers to exploit.

Poor is relative in our more developed economy which has even paid multimillion dollar bonuses to fake poor on corporate welfare.

We don't have to make it a crime. All we have to do is raise taxes on the poor. They use most of the federal resources so they should pay more. It's that easy

If you use more resources you should pay more. That simple right. Tax the poor and it will be a disincentive to be poor.

Yes you are totally right. Henry the Homeless uses twice as much resources as Pete Plutocrat, Oliver Oligarch, Wally the Wall Street cokehead or even Brett Bourgeoisie. F'ck that moocher, he can pay his fair share or die. I like being a high-info voter like you!

I think the OP needs to move to Oakland or East St. Louis for awhile. If he lives and works among the urban "poor" for a year, then comes back and still condescends to us about how they need more free money and more free services, maybe then I will care about what he has to say.

Sorry you don't care. I have made my proposal pretty clear, make being "poor" a crime, enough of a crime so that the "poor" are incentivized to go out and buy some bootstraps and pull themselves up by them.

Well, I can certainly tell that you don't!

you would figure that starving and living in squalor would be a good incentive to do better. But then when you give people free food, free phones, free rent, free money for having children, those incentives go out the window.

You do realize that the large corporations use exponentially more 'resources' than regular citizens, don't you?

Not really. The rich are good at navigating the law. There's a huge difference, though I'm sure your intended meaning is closer to navigate.

Those “Evil, Rich People” – are Democrats
I always wondered about that. I mean most of those millionaires in Hollywood are Democrats. Many of your top athletes are Black and we know most are Democrats. Some of Obama's biggest donors are filthy rich. Most of the millionaires in Congress are Democrats. So I went to look it up and what do you know, most of the rich are Democrats.

Image: Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Larry Ellison – Democrats)

From the, “you never hear about that from the media” file – Those “Evil, Rich People” that Democrats are always wailing about are actually – Democrats.

While I don’t agree in referring to rich people as “Evil”, Democrats are often making such accusations. But what most people don’t realize is that the Top 3 “richest” people in the country are all Democrats. This list includes: Bill Gates, Warren Buffett & Larry Ellison are all Democrats. Together, they are worth $126 Billion Dollars.

An analysis of the Top 20 Richest People in America (from Forbes Top 100) reveals that a full 60% are actually Democrats. Furthermore, if you look at it from a “family” point of view and not as individuals, that ratio widens even further to: 25% Republican / 75% Democrat.

(The purpose of this analysis is not who makes the most money, but where they contribute / by party affiliation. Obviously, people from the same family would tend to contribute to the same party.)

Analyzing the data takes us even further. Not only are there more Democrats in the Top 20 list, but those Democrats are a lot more stingy with their money when it comes to campaign contributions. Republicans coughed up $5.2 million while Democrats squirted out only $2.1 Million. These statistics would indicate that the more you have, the less you give to your political party.

Contributions paid to special interest groups are a little harder to track. But we have no reason not to assume that the money these Top 1% of the population contribute to Special Interest groups wouldn’t match (or at least closely match) those of their chosen political affiliation. When you add in the money contributed to these groups, you end up with Republican Contributions at $10 million while Democrats contributed only $6 million. Again, it appears that the Democrats are a bit more stingy with their money.

Lest we not forget, Democrats outweigh Republicans. Not only in terms of the number of uber-millionaires, but also with their net worth. In this Top 20 group, Democrats have a combined net worth of $263.1 billion dollars while the Republicans have a combined net worth of only $143.9 billion dollars – almost half that of Democrats.

So the next time you hear some Liberal try the “Evil Rich Republican” rhetoric, remind them and everyone around you that it is the Democrats who are those “Evil Rich People”, not the Republicans. Then stand back and watch their head spin.

*Correction. In the attached chart, Christy Walton is listed as a Democrat when in fact she is Republican. However, the math was reported correctly.

Those Democrats are "neoliberals", they believe in capitalism and they lean to the Right economically. Also known as "Blue Dogs".
