Should we have a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution?

  1. Yes, of course. Don't be stupid.

  2. Yes, because the Democrats can't stop their out-of-control social spending on their own.

  3. Yes, because the Republicans won't quit starting their illegal pre-emptive wars on their own.

The same can be said for hyperbolic Tea Party rhetoric.
And yet no one proposes straight-jacketing Tea Partiers (I'd prefer to give them valium).

They'd be in better shape if a budget could pass without the Spanish Inquisition.
Tea Partiers seem to believe that a paralyzed, incompetent government is somehow the solution to all of America's problems.

So throw the baby out with the bath water?
This is like suggesting that we should disarm the entire military so that we can't start stupid wars anymore.

It was also a reaction to the much more "states' rights" friendly Articles of Confederation that made the Federal government as useless as Tea Partiers want to make it.
The Constitution created the government's ability to get revenues through taxing and borrowing.

Tea Partiers are neo-confederates. I just wish they'd admit it.
