That is sad, with a name like Buttercup she would have to be a good mama.

She was in the past. She has just had bad luck. I should sell her but I won't. Nelly just kidded....think its a girl. Will check tomorrow. Buttercup and some of the other girls have a home for life. I do need to sell off a couple of billies. I only need one.

 

Can you walk and chew gum? I am just joking with you.

 

It can also be boring. The days before holidays always suck.

Good morning... whos got their turkey thawing?

 

Woke up at 2:00am for reasons unknown, just finished my third cup of coffee, and my 8th trip to remove the used coffee.

Coffee is my friend.

SIL is doing the primary cooking, I have dessert duty. Cheesecake with fresh raspberry sauce.

 

I personally dislike the holidays. The only thing I look forward to this time of year is hunting but unfortunately not doing that this year. Thanksgiving needs to be changed from a feast to a fast, and 30 days of Christmas music needs to stop, it ranks right there with water boarding.

 

Agreed on the music. The commercialization of Christmas has diluted the festive spirit so badly, I flinch at the beginning of November. It's almost a unpleasant task to shop for even simple gifts. Glad that virtually all I need to buy for are adults who don't need anything, so at least I can have fun with the gifts.

I enjoy Thanksgiving for the warmth of family and good food, I see no problems with that.

 

Just popping in to say hello. Hoping to log back in later today. Training is broken up into a few segments. This one ends this week.

Next training segment is over a month long and is up in NY. That should be fun in the winter!

Didn't realize how easy this session would be. My soldiers are doing great, NCO's had a great SOP from the start, nobody failed PT with the exception of a few soldiers on medical profiles.

Coolest part about this training? I'm at a location where my cousin is stationed. He's a Major and swings by our location from time to time. Nice to catch up with him.

 

Holidays have changed so much since my mom passed away. Guess I didnt inherit the matriarch gene since getting thru it has replaced continuing long held family traditions. Thanksgiving now consists of feeding lots of folks via to-go plates and meals on wheels instead of formal sit down dinners... and Christmas is a online shopping frenzy to find unique gifts for kids who are disappointed with anything that isnt handheld electronics.

Have threatened to spend Christmas in Vegas since 2004... but havent done it yet.

Bah humbug.

Did I awaken the Scrooge in you? Sorry, I don't dislike them just not thrilled and that can't wait spirit might return one day.

 

It’s horrible isn’t it? I don’t get the holiday spirit anymore. It was a blast when the kids were little but now I can’t wait for it to be all over.

You're sitting around the table enjoying your turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, wine, and whatnot whilst indulging in the usual familial arguments over politics. After a half hour or so if you haven't figured out who the drunk uncle (or aunt, as the case may be) is,it might be you.

I couldn't be more excited to be done with this training. 18 more hours and then I'll be home. My fiance is back in her home town getting ready for thanksgiving. I am not going though as I wouldn't be there until late tomorrow night even if I tried to make it.

Good news is, she called me this morning and said she bought me a frozen chicken to cook in the crock pot when I get home. I'm not a big turkey fan UNLESS it's a smoked turkey so I'd prefer the chicken.

I will have a happy thanksgiving with my pup and will probably sleep thursday night until saturday lol.

 

Stopping by on way home to pick up tomorrows feast. I'll be making a relish tray... Norma is doing the rest.
