Another symptom of the decline is that very few of today's generation actually know the definition of punctuality and they are chronically late to work and half-assed their jobs..... And for some reason it is tolerated and therefore you get more of that...

This bar has an age limit, right?

I mean the kids aren’t allowed…. Leave them at home, I don’t see the relevance here.

Awhile ago I went to bars with a crowd after work. When I was working second shift… good fun but became too routine and got old fast. When working third shift… we opened the bar. That was when the ‘hot chick’ told me “we don’t talk about work here, but you can”. Sometimes it’s alright to be special.

Last time I went to a bar I got almost in a fight for a stupid reason. I try to do all my drinking at the house or out fishing or something in the woods. I can get in trouble at my house without looking forward away from it.

If it's not getting in a fight in a bar it's a possibility of a DUI on the way home.

I hear ya. I’m just a home-body now. I have plenty to do here. From what I gather from reading your posts… you do better than I when it comes to getting out and living life.

When this whole working for a living thing doesn't get in the way.... My weekend finally begins at 6:00 a.m. so I'll be loading my dirt bike to go ride tomorrow.

And when I say I can get in trouble at the house I mean it... I'm one of my weekends off I let my 25 lb dog out in our yard on his 15 ft cable run and then I hear this noise a few minutes later and I go outside and this guy is trying to get this Pitbull off of my dog.

So I go out and punch the dog in the head three times as hard as I could until the damn thing let go and then I'm about ready to get in a fight with this guy when he tells me that my dog bit him !

I was absolutely livid..... I said my dog bit you huh? Do you have a clue whose yard you're standing in at the moment?

I need to go fishing. I used to go all the time but I haven't been in so long that it's criminal.... And if I don't renew my license before I go the next time they might just call it that.

There's a spot down south of me in Charlotte harbor where I like to catch small bull sharks on a handline using live tilapia as bait.

They tend to run about 15 or 30 lb which is perfect eating size. I use a plastic donut reel for the hand line which is about as big around as a small dinner plate strung with a lot of cheap but high test monofilament.

I much prefer hand line fishing. Something about a much more intimate connection between you and the fish.

I'll be sure to take pictures tomorrow and update my adventures thread.

Why do people say not to speak ill of the Dead? If you were an a hole when you were alive, death did not magically transform you into a better person.

Actually it means the world now has one less a hole.

Only decent people should be missed and mourned.

It's not like people don't talk behind other people's backs while they're alive all the time

My Father had an answer for that..."If you can't say it to their face don't say it behind their back."

We all know it happens. My general rule about it is: I don’t say anything behind a person’s back that I wouldn’t say to their face.

How did your produce stand fare on football day ? What kind of produce do you have. What kind of produce do you sell in your stand? When we had to move so much with my husbands job finding a good produce stand was my first must do job. I have visited so many produce stands to buy fruit and vegetables I can't name them all. I do remember the most famous stand...it is"Robert is here." It was my favorite place to buy mangoes. I wonder if Curious always has visited the stand.

@Curious Always what has Nerd said about Lee? Lee can do with a bit of watching. He is gaining strength. Hope he doesn't get into the Gulf.

Current thinking is it will go out to sea, but he’s keeping a close eye on it. Here in Ft Lauderdale we will likely get some nice waves for the surfers. As of now, he’s not worried.

Well…. It has a very well defined eye wall, now, so I asked again, “still going out to sea?” Answer: “Yes, well, it’s supposed to.”

That’s a non answer if I ever heard one. Stay tuned. Next advisory is at 11:00 PM ET. There will be new recon. They fly out in about 1/2 hour.

Found out today that my employer which was supposed to close this December 31 is going to put it off another year. Not sure I will stick around to the end or not. Pay is fantastic but if I find a lifeboat, I am jumping on it.

    Never Forget
On September 11, 2001 I was deep in the woods in New York State. I had no idea what was happening in New York City, Pennsylvania or the Pentagon. I had a long travel time ahead of me so I decided to pack up and leave early. I packed up the truck and headed out. Still not having any clue what was happening.

I drove for a while and turned the radio on. The first station was what I thought was some type of modern day War of the Worlds program and flipped the channel. Next channel the same thing. All the channels were broadcasting the same thing. We were being attacked. All bridges and tunnels into and out of New York City are closed because of the fear of bombs being planted there. I remember feeling confused about what exactly was going on and what the hell I shoud do. I needed to cross over one of those bridges that crossed over the Hudson River that was closed. I kept driving, thinking I have two options. Turn around and go back to the woods until I know whats going on or keep driving and get home as quickly as possible. I decided pretty quickly, turning back was not a real option for me. I needed to get home to my family and nothing was going to stop me.

It became apparent there were no cars on the road. No people moving around. It was eerily quiet. The closer I got to that bridge, I started thinking what if. What if the bridge is closed? Im driving over it anyway. What if the bridge is planted with bombs? I'll take my chance but I thought, unroll the windows because if this bridge goes down and I live, I am not drowning. I unrolled the windows. When I got to the bridge there was a flashing banner. That flashing banner said, "God Bless America". To this day when if I think about that flashing banner and that feeling I got when I saw that, I get water in my eyes. I drove over that bridge and eventually made it home.

For everyone who was murdered on that day, God bless your souls and rest in peace.

For everyone who has passed away over time from health related problems helping in search, rescue and clean up, God bless your souls, rest in peace and thank you for your effort and eventual ultimate sacrifice.

To the families and friends who lost loved ones, I hope the memory of your lost loved ones brings you strength and comfort in some way. Im sorry for your loss.
    God Bless America!

22 years ago.. While the more mature among us will never forget, we now have a large percentage who never knew.

I was in kindergarten. My great aunt died the thursday of that week and my mom was sad that she couldn't attend the funeral because the airlines were shut down and driving to Boston just wasn't realistic. Anyway, no different than any of the other big moments like JFK assassination of Pearl Harbor. They pass from living memory relatively quickly. I am not sure that is a bad thing.
