So, I keep hearing that Trump is ruining the GOP. I hear liberals say that all their moderate conservatives lower their heads in shame when Trump is mentioned. I hear that Trump is ruining the brand by associating it with racism, pushing it further from the center, etc., etc. I hear all this coming from liberals/progressives, mostly the ones farthest to the left. But Query:

Have they fogotten that an actual, no-joke self-described Socialist is stealing the limelight from Hillary, and it's the most liberal/progressive that are making huge crowds for him? Are they forgetting that Sanders is pulling Hillary to the left? I mean what, is there a proverbial plank in the eyes of liberals and progressives on this one?

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure Bernie actually knows what socialism is.

Difference is, the Left doesn't demand "ideological purity" or leap to the Far Left to pander to some loud, but small segment of the Democratic Party.

The Right does...."GOP Purity Tests" and sucking up to the Tea Party...is a Republican thing.

Plus Bernie Sanders isn't pandering to racists like Trump is....which the other Republicans have to do...but more "subtly", not as overtly as Trump is.

The left certainly panders to racist. Hell, one of them ran in the primaries for the 2004. Famous racist bigot Al Sharpton.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Sharpton

Nice to see when he's not out bashing gays or white people, he has time to run for President.

But Sanders IS pandering to the far-left, and he is growing in popularity among Democrats.

No he is pandering to radical leftists and socialists.

And Trump is not pandering to racists, he stating facts.

Trump isn't ruining the GOP, despite the fervent dreams of MSNBC. Trump has been a celebrity for decades and has been schmoozing both sides of the aisle for all that time, so people associate him more as a billionaire bigmouth than a GOP operative. In fact, hitching his wagon to the Republicans looks like opportunism, not ideological compatibility, unless the GOP has decided to endorse Canadian style healthcare, like Trump. Trump when full birther a few years ago but it had zero effect on the GOP because no one thinks Donald Trump: Republican politician.

What Trump has done is push the Overton Window on immigration just a bit. The death of Kate Steinle would never have made the news before Trump went off on illegals.

How high in the polls did Sharpton get in 2004?

How high in the polls is Trump?

    - - - Updated - - -

    1. Yes, Sanders is now "only" TWENTY POINTS behind Hillary. She's finished. :)

    2. If Trump didn't pander to racists....why did most of the 2016 GOP Hopefuls distance themselves from his comments????

    3. BTW, I'm sure in your mind being a "leftist" is "worse than being a racist"...and of course there are no racists in the GOP, but the Democratic Party is 70-80% Marxist....right?

What do the "polls" matter? The polls showed Romney ahead of Obama before the election.

Polls matter all of the sudden?

The fact is, a racist bigot, Al Sharpton, is a liberal icon, and ran for President. He even has his own TV show on the liberal network MSNBC. Not joking.

The only ones being ruined are the fools like Obama that defend illegal killers and sanctuary cities.

The two have very different styles. Trump is flamboyant. Sanders appears more reserved, wiser. He's more to the ground then Trump. Thus this approach speaks to how their message comes across. Trump is callous and doesn't care about what the GOP stands for. He's willing to burn it to the ground to make his point across. Sanders cares, that's why he's running. Might not be much of a Socialist but at least he believes in something and can convince people through his cool attitude that it's right.

Trump isn't ruining the GOP. Trump is perfectly at home in the GOP. He's the proverbial chicken who has come home to roost. Among the squawking-on-cue parrots.

But in this case the squawking chicken is telling the absolute truth, and Obama and the other libs have a huge twist in their underlovlies.

I think its its embarrassing that a cartoon clown like donald trump is running for president and he might win the republican primary, it says alot about the fact that the democrats no longer have any real opposition, and that for the first time in over hundred years americans, might see a new political party. im a leftist and, I honestly don't care about the racist sleazebag known as trump, he couldn't win against a retarded person. I know the republicans will lose in 2016 no matter who their candidate is, but it seems sad, for america as a country, when we have donald trump who is basically, kim kardashian in a suit, running for president

Anyone can run for president in this country. Even a crook like Hillary Clinton.

so Trump is more confrontational, and that's it?

Which I honestly don't give Sanders flak for telling that guy to shut up, but I don't give Trump flak for saying this, either: "[Mexico is] sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems to us. They are bringing drugs, and bringing crime, and their rapists"

Why? Because it is only when you make a flat out erroneous interpretation (adding to) of what he said that it becomes racist. People have taken this statement, about illegal immigrants from Mexico BROADLY, and taken it to mean that he's calling each and every one of them a problem, or a rapist. I think it is abundantly clear that he is being so sharply criticized for what is just a straw man.

You missed the point. *shrug* oh well.

Sure they do. Hillary has a vagina, that makes her a celebrity in some circles. Other than that, she's dishonest, deceitful, greedy, even treasonous maybe, but man.... that vagina is all that matters, right?

The Dems should dump Hillary and go with Elizabeth Warren. That would better for the country, wouldn't it? Why on earth would anyone want to put a crook in the White House? Haven't we had enough crooks? Nixon? Hillary is exactly like Nixon, right down to the "I am not a crook" bit. The Benghazi video was her version of the Rosemary Woods Stretch. She even swears like Nixon.

I dunno man... for some reason that vagina seems to be awful important... beats me, I don't understand it....

That would be a good ticket. You'll find me complaining a whole lot less about "the lefties" if that becomes the Democratic party ticket.

That, to me, would indicate the Dems have regrown both some brain cells and some principles. I'd like that very much.

What's ironic are the claims that he's a candidate for the "far right", when looking at Trump's actual platform he's more of a moderate than anything else.

I think this shows the problem when people use soundbytes from sources like Media Matters or Michael Savage as their main source of info instead of actually researching the candidates:

I don't like Trump! But I have to admit he's actually a breath of fresh air for the gop. I don't even agree with half he says. But he is a leader, he has structure, he articulates himself easily to the public (something almost all gop candidates never do) and he has filled a huge void! But he won't be president and in the long run if there isn't a gop candidate that can at least credibly follow some of his footsteps then the public will be even more let down during election time and go straight to the left on voting days for president. But the gop had nothing to offer anyway so there is no downside. He is giving them hope! So the ball is in the rest of the gop's hands!
