In off-year elections, the party that does not hold the White House has a traditional advantage, and since GOP successful gerrymandering yielded a Repub-controlled House in 2012 despite more Americans having cast congressional ballots for Democrats nationwide, and with the Karl Rove and the GOP establishment now pouring big money into offing TP primary candidates, their prospects are decent, despite the abysmal ratings they are accorded by Americans. They befouled themselves by allowing their berserkers to shut down public services for nought, and, if the fringe defeats popular, comprehensive immigration reform as well, they'll be hauling a mighty pantload of baggage, but I suspect they'll hang in for one more round.
