It's only "extraordinary" because it involves the CIA. More damage control by the sycophantic establishment press. And there is indeed extraordinary proof, which the Post and company still continue to pretend doesn't exist:

A declassified CIA document shows the agency used a, quote, "ground base of already productive relations with journalists [at other newspapers]" to counter what it called, quote, "a genuine public relations crisis."

The weird thing about Webb's death is that no one has really questioned how he committed suicide by shooting himself twice in the back of the head.

While all interesting reading, most Americans that lived during the RR years know what was done by him and his administration and yet they elected as the next President someone that was neck deep in the mess and the former head of the CIA. So it looks like even though most Americans already know about the issue and the truth of the many illegalities it obviously do not care all that much it is what we have come to expect by government officials and agencies.

Oh yea, I was reminded about that when I saw the end of the movie. The most important part imo was the scene with former CIA officer John Cullen:

I suspect it was the framing of the argument that elicited support or acquiescence for U.S. Policy in Central and South America during Reagan's administration -- the fight against communism (leftists in general, really). Combined with that fight was the defense of our hemisphere (Monroe doctrine).

Nah, most of the news reporting and commentary kept the public ignorant for more than 12 years. The topic of this thread is an example of the free press attesting to the moral purity of the CIA. That's generally how U.S. clandestine terror in Central America was covered for the entire 12 years. Most people don't have the time for critical thinking and research projects.
