It's obvious the budget was ideologically driven to stamp on social services, to stamp on those who can barely fill their fridges yet told to contribute $7 to Medicare which is a universal health care. Many of us pay a levy and that sits fine with me but targetting those who can least afford it sucks to the sky.

Meanwhile, Brandis can't buy an ordinary bookcase or something close to an ordinary bookcase and spends up big on wine and books and entertaining. The SMH labelled it 'obscene' and given the dollar amounts involved, yeah, it's obscene. What was that, Hockey, 'Everyone in the community needs to do the heavy-lifting'? Except puffed-up politicians whooping it up on tax dollars. I never begrudge tax dollars spent on helping those in need in our country... but $13,000 for Brandis to stock his personal library? And $15,000 for a bookcase to house his personal library? Get stuffed, Brandis, get stuffed, Hockey. The age of entitlement is alive and well for puffed-up politicians. Oh, yeah, and their inflated retirement benefits.

$1100 dinner bill for Brandis and his three guests.

One of the commentators in the respondent comments tried to minimise this. No amount of spin is going to remove the impression that Soapy Brandis and his mates feel they have the right to blow taxpayer's money like this. Whether it's bookcases containing books probably never read but with spines turned out to impress the visitor; or (*)(*)(*)(*)-ups in posh places, this just reeks of a sense of privilege. Let's toss these bastards next election.

This pales into insignificance when you read about the $130,000 they paid just to have a table brought
from overseas to Brisbane for the G20 Conference....

Aaah well I think I'll have my daily slice of bread and glass of water....

This is one of the reasons Conservatives are skeptical of government– most of that money they take from the taxpayers never reaches those who are truly in need.

Remember when Abbott was calling for inquiries and prison time every time an ALP pollie spent $50?

$30,000 for bookcase, books and one lone dinner...

$1100 for dinner for 4 people would have fed 110 homeless people with a sandwich, apple and drink at $10 each.

The same Brandis who says people have a right to be bigots. Arrogance and entitlement knows no bounds with this creep.

He can stick his bookcase, no integrity here, he's out to puff up his ego... and we're paying for him to puff up his ego.... and someone oughta drop that bookcase on his head.

There's something wrong when they can't find a bloody table in their own country for under $130,000. That's crazy. I hate this government. hate hate hate.

New Year's Eve and no doubt the pollies will be lavishing themselves at taxpayer expense tonight.

$15 bottle of wine for me, lowly constituent.... but I'd like to charge an expensive bottle of Veuve Clicquot for myself to Brandis, tit for tat, oh, and a dinner for me and my friend for $1,000. The bookcase could do with a top-up too. And throw in a $130,000 table and I'll dance on it to welcome in the New Year! Wot fun!

Happy New Year, fellow posters!

And big obtrusive raspberries to the current government!! You suck to the sky and beyond!! Incompetent, useless wasters of OUR money. Get stuffed, Liberal Party.
