It's that time again football fans - Super Bowl LIII is upon us. This year we've got a rematch of Super Bowl XXXVI - the Patriots vs. the Rams. Who are you picking and who are you rooting for? Last I checked, the Patriots are favored by 2.5 points. I'm taking the Patriots to win and cover the spread, and I'm not taking them because of Brady. Their offensive line has been dominating opposing defenses lately and I expect them to do the same Sunday. For the Rams to win, Goff & Co. are going to have to light up the scoreboard and Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips is going to have to whip up another game plan like he did for the Broncos several years ago when they shut down the Pats in the AFC Championship. However, Von Miller isn't going to be playing for him this time. I really don't have a preference for either team although I wouldn't mind seeing some new faces hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. However, I don't see that happening - I think the Pats are going to win and it's possible they could win big.
Wade Phillips and the Bronco defense beat the Pats in the AFC Championship game (21-19) not because of a great pass rush. They won because the Patriot receivers were hit a full second before every pass got to them. Gronk was tackled several times before the ball arrived. And no pass interference was called. Just like the Rams-Saints game. Pats 34, Rams 24
