    Your pedantry is breathtaking.

The US has publicly admitted they have provided weapons to ISIS. And you need a photograph showing Obama handing over an AK47 before you believe it. Incredible.

One of ISIS' top commanders was a 'star pupil' of US-special forces training in the country of Georgia

Aside from ISIS' 'caliph' Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Georgian ex-commando Omar al-Shishani might be the most recognizable and popular of the powerful militant group's leaders.

Sporting a recognizable red beard and happy to pose for photos, Shishani has acted as a very public face for some of ISIS' most notorious successes.

It was Shishani who posed with the stolen US Humvees that ISIS had seized from Mosul and brought back into Syria.

And it was Shishani who had led successful ISIS military campaigns throughout Syria as well as a blitz through western Iraq that put the group within 100 miles of Baghdad.

These military successes are not simply the result of any innate military capabilities. Instead, Shishani spent years conducting military campaigns against the Russians, first as a Chechen rebel and then as a soldier in the Georgian military. During Shishani's four years in the military, from 2006 to 2010, his unit received some degree of training from American special forces units.

“He was a perfect soldier from his first days, and everyone knew he was a star,” an unnamed former comrade who is still active in the Georgian military told McClatchy DC. “We were well trained by American special forces units, and he was the star pupil.”

“We trained him well, and we had lots of help from America,” another anonymous Georgian defense official told McClatchy about Shishani. “In fact, the only reason he didn’t go to Iraq to fight alongside America was that we needed his skills here in Georgia.”

Just so you know, I said Thank you to be courteous, it doesn't mean I am convinced. :)

I am inclined to believe your side of the story, but will wait for further confirmation as to what the Russian guy is saying.

There are no "sides" at this story. It's a video of Anna-News, it's a small news agency, I think the number of their staff is less than 5 people, which specializes on Syrian war since 2013. They have a huge number of videos from Syria:

In many of these videos you can hear the voice of the commentator. Sometimes he presents in the video when follows Syrian soldiers in fights.

I would like to hear what Assad has to say about his side of this conflict. He speaks perfect English, so why can't he get his side out to the American people?

A believe-able explanation. It would appear that, at least to me, the entirety of your credibility rests on the snippet of Russian communication being translated successfully. If it indeed is what you say, then it will come out. If it is determined that the Russian guy is saying something else entirely, then your credibility is done for.

BTW, I have a friend from Moldova so I'm not just some anti-Russian zealot. I'm trying to keep an open mind about it.

What can I do if that was a background voice. You had a different video of 10 minutes from Syria where there wre 5 seconds of something resembling russian. For that I didn't say that it was background voice. for it wasn't. :)
As for russian troops in Ukraine - it's a lie. I can think of some special missions, miltary aid, etc. But there is no russian army there. Ukrainian army is stopped by Donetsk and Lugansk miners, teachers, accountants, agronomists and barbers. They are clearly the force which is too tough for nazi and drafted against the will. If russian army was there they'd move the ukrainans to Galicia leaving to Poland to decide what to do with the successors of Bandera. It is not done only because of political and economic reasons. Because unlike in Crimea and Donbass there are millions of civilians who won't accept russians or will simulate a change of mind. Besides, Russia will have to restore a failed state in its own account being sanctioned for the restoration as if it was an aggression.
So it doesn't make sense for Russia to move its army to Ukraine. Donbass is a different issue. Russia will not permit ukrainian fascists to storm into Donetsk or Lugansk. Whatever all the world says and does. The whole world means less to russians than the people there who protect who they are.

Also look at the difference. Since you compared Ukraine and Syria. The delivery of military machinery to Ukraine has never had a decent evidence. But the delivery of machinery to Syria is not concealed and is done openely. The US when they need are able to see the reconstruction of an airport in Syria. But they haven't showed anything close like that about Ukraine.

The video is funny. It shows nothing and interviews the people who didn't see or do anything themselves. But it certainly creates a feeling that russian army is in Ukraine. It's not even half-true. It's 10% of true about different subjects. If one wants to believe it he neds to be an anti-russian. :)

I think that if it hadn't been for Putin the UK would have had 'boots on the ground' in Syria 4 years ago, thanks to our sabre-rattling prime minister wanting to arm IS. [IMG] Thankfully the former made the latter stop and actually think about the disastrous consequences of doing it. Phew, that was close!
