Kudos to the Canadian Press, however, for correctly characterizing the demonstrations in the headline as 'anti-vaccine mandate.' CNN and the NYT should take some notes.

 

Canada is, by nearly every historic criteria, under a totalitarian regime. This cannot be possibly be denied. But the good news is that since liberals the world over are so supportive of these measures they'll surely have no problem when the opposite sides of their respective political bodies make use of these 'emergency powers' when they are in power. For Americans this means we will be able to arrest and bankrupt every single person who ever so much as tweeted 'black lives matter' and it will be 100% justified because Canada is showing us its ok.

 

Agreed. The pendulum swings both ways. We are on the precipice of a very slippery slope. This is what happens when the masses embrace the rule of men over the rule of law. Normally, I would be disinclined to roll in the mud in a tit-for-tat authoritarian cavalcade, but it seems the gloves are off and the writing is on the wall, as well as numerous other clichés. When diplomacy has reached its end, you need to stand up and give as good as you get. Ah how I love a race to the bottom!

'Democratic' government gets away with this sort of scumbaggery because We The People do not stand up for eachother. 'I'll defend to the death your right to say it' is just empty words these days on both sides of the aisle. The majority of 'the other sides' likely do not agree with how folks are being oppressed for their speech, but we don't really do anything about it when its people that we disagree with. And I say 'we' because myself included. I have a job and bills that keeps me from demonstrating just like most folks do. What is the answer- I don't know. But suffice to say, speech is dying because We The People are killing it with our apathy.

And that apathy will only grow when people considering the ramifications of going against the oppressors in even in the slightest of ways. It was bad enough when it started to become dangerous to show up to a rally dressed in a red hat but now if you so much as donate $10 to a charity fund your name and address will be circulated around the internet on some sort of pseudo-kill list. That's going to scare a lot of people who just don't want to take the risk of being singled out by unhinged leftists.

I think the crux of the issue is the large numbers of our fellows who've been led to believe -- largely by academia, the media (ironically), and certain elected leaders -- that free speech (and by extension, many of the freedoms we currently enjoy) is actually a bad thing and that not only should its defense not be fought for, but that it should be summarily executed with extreme prejudice. This is straight out of the Marxist playbook, and so many now actively practice and profess Marxism and they don't even know it. I am remembering a quote from one of the Squad members -- probably AOC -- that essentially said the government should determine what the "truth" is of a given issue and that you have free speech as long as it is the approved version of the truth as determined by the AOCs and their cadre. It had the nerve to call this "media literacy."

Which doesn't negate my point at all. Described as anti-vaccine mandate? Yes. Only examples? No. Of course not. We can play this game all day. You find headlines you don't like, I find ones you will.

 

And this is why bail was denied. Bail is denied when she is considered a flight risk. She organized an illegal protest with truckers across the US and Canada. So don’t be surprised the courts will rule she’s a flight risk.

Oh and for everyone thinking Canada is some dictatorship now? Get off your soap box they’re more free than the US.

 

"What I like" is not the topic. Rather, accuracy in reporting. As I stated, it looks the MSM finally got the memo. Good for them.

Based on the number of misleading headlines and inaccurate descriptions of anti-mandaters as anti-vaxxers, a memo was most definitely required. But only if facts are of any importance to the occupation of "news" gathering.
