The Texas synagogue hostage taker, a visitor from Britain, in the USA less than 2 weeks had no problem in obtaining a gun in the good old USA. He spent his first night in Texas sleeping in a homeless shelter and police are speculating someone there may have sold him the gun.

I'm more interested in the fact that the FBI refused to call it terrorism or identify the suspect and said they didn't know what his motive was, CNN called the suspect a "British citizen", and the Democratic Michigan Attorney General blamed it on white supremacy. The terrorist was Malik Faisal Akram, and he was trying to free an anti-Semitic Al-Qaeda terrorist...

As for your question, this guy was a terrorist. He could have had any one of his terrorist buddies purchase a gun for him months ago and stash it somewhere for him...

So what you’re telling me is it was illegally purchased which shows that people who want to get one will obviously do so no matter what laws you pass

When improperly vetted people cross the border, whether it is "legal" or illegal, it puts our people at risk.

As a matter of note, terrorists can generally get whatever they need to carry out their act in whatever country they are in. The key is not letting them in to start with. We have just learned that lesson again.

The dead suspect has been identified and his picture shown in the news. And the key phrase in my post MAY HAVE SOLD HIM THE GUN, IN other words they don't know how he got it

If they don't know how he got it, then it wasn't legally purchased. No gun law would have prevented it.

He apparently had no history of any prior terrorist activity and was not on any suspects list either here nor in Britain.

So, what law would have prevented this guy from getting that gun and still upheld peoples Right to bear arms?

Typical Mohammad worshipper. He could've caused as much mayhem with a knife to the Rabbi's throat. And who paid for his airfare from Britain to Texas?

There's nothing that can be done about it, aside from straight up confiscation, which still wouldn't stop it. The gangbangers and hoodrats aren't exactly just going to turn them over. Like I said, no gun law would have prevented this. Much like if I wanted to hop in my car and run over 37 people on a crowded sidewalk. There is not a single law that would prevent it, and there is nothing that anyone could do about it...

And we let just anyone cross the southern border with little or no vetting whatsoever.

The vast majority of gun owners are law-abiding. It's the other ones that are causing the problems and making the rest of us look bad...

Two teens in the UK are also in custody in conjunction with this.

Such is the price of freedom. You want control, where the citizens have no say in anything? Go live in North Korea, China, or Australia (plus many others)....

    Malik Faisal Akram?

Well, if there was ever a more white supremacy-sounding name!

I'm afraid that I do not understand why you feel that a simple illegal firearm transaction is so unique since no new gun law would have preventing this incident.
Criminals, by definition, do not obey laws just as nothing can prevent a determined killer from from killing a significant number of people with any number of crude WMDs.

I frequently cite the following example in which a boyfriend wanted to kill his girlfriend, couldn't get a gun so he devised a crude WMD which ended up killing 87 people with only one dollar's with of easily obtained gasoline:

    "Happy Land fire"
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Land_fire

EXCERPT "González went to an Amoco gas station, then returned to the establishment with a plastic container with $1 worth of gasoline.[2][4] He spread the fuel at the base of a staircase, the only access into the club, and then ignited the gasoline.[5]

Eighty-seven people died in the resulting fire."CONTINUED
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that is noteworthy that no mass shooting ever has cost so many lives and making a crude but effective WMD is so easy to do.

I simply feel that securing our borders and investing in preventative mental health care are among the more effective measures that can be made to reduce our violent crime rate.

At the same time, the criminal already broke existing laws and more gun control laws would have had just as little effect.

    Heres what the do know
He was a terrorist that was provided a legal visa to enter the US that the simplest of background checks would have shown his terrorist brother and his affiliation to terrorist.
He didn't purchase a gun legally.

So out of the over 22,000 gun laws on the books, which one would have stopped him from buying a gun illegally?

And why was he permitted into the country in the first place. A man with multiple criminal convictions, a known terrorist sympathizer. How was he even allowed to board a plane.
