    Regional awakening? Democracy? Rights?

    How naive can people become?

The rebels in almost every case are seeking to overthrow more secular governments and are replacing them with radically religious regimes. This is what happened in Egypt. In Syria, the rebels are seeking to implement Sharia law.

It is time that our nation woke up to two realities:
    1. Democratic change is not always safer and morally superior. It is destabilizing for religious radicals to take over when for instance, Assad is a relatively secular socialist.
    2. Rebels are not always in the right. Just because there have been rights violations, the alternative must be considered. Will these new regimes be more ethically upright?

    Our government is so naive.
Religious radicals cannot be negotiated with. The more secular, the better.
