Here are some topic ideas. Tell us why if you like: Favorite period of the Beatles Favorite song(s) Favorite album (album?) Favorite Beatle if possible to say Favorite Movie Favorite trivia Pre Beatle period Paul is dead George Martin John & Yoko Maharishi You get the idea. I'll post later. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Prunie
Favorite songs are Revolution, Loser, Can't Buy Me Love. Favorite Paul McCartney song is Come together, Live and Let Die. Most hated song: Imagine.
I like almost all their early stuff and their later hits (revolution, Walrus etc) Rubber Soul--favorite album. There are music styles and songs from other groups I like better then a Beatles song---but the Beatles have come up with so many that I love....Their music has carried on through the ages. A Paul McCartney concert here was filled with a strong mix of little kids, teenager, 20 somethings, 40 and 50 year olds and the elderly
I've been thinking very hard about this. I like George very much because he was a deep thinker. Psychologically we are one. I like Paul because I'm a bass player. He's not at the top of the list, as bass players go, but I like him. Yes, he wrote a bunch of "tripe" but he was a good musician. No doubt about it. Sir Paul rocks. Ringo makes me laugh. He can play, act and improvise intellectually. I'd hire Ringo as a drummer if he'd play with me. Not for his playing as much as for his intelligence and ability to provide his personality into the tunes. I like John He could rock and roll! Prunie.
Good choices! I dig George. I remember when "The Beatles" album, aka the White Album came out. None of us called it the "white album". We called it the new Beatles album.
Personally, I don't really like The Beatles. Old school hip-hop is what I really enjoy. However, they were certainly iconic in their prime. John Lennon was a whackjob, though.
I did not like The Beatles when they were The Beatles. I was hard-core, over-the-top Elvis fan. No time for shaggy hairs from Great Britain. Years later I traded my spinet in for a baby grand and bought The Complete Beatles Songbook so I would have new music to play. Man, that cured me! I really started respecting their music. And George...........his music was by far the most difficult. Some of his chords were off the charts. Later when ABC did the Beatles Anthology, I fell in love, hook, line and sinker. I still watch my 5-disc collection at least once a year. Their early music was simplistic and just plain silly. But with the help of George Martin, they became, imo, some of the greatest musicians of modern time. The only one comparable is Freddie.
Let It Be is the only song I think was exceptional. In the end they were the New Kids On The Block, Hanson, NSync, One Direction of their day.
I liked the LP. The best thing about the 'movie' was that it was live and without alteration. It showed that they could really play. As a matter of fact, that LP introduced us to the 6th Beatle.
I'm partial to Revolver, timeless. 1965-1969 Strawberry Fields Forever Depends on my mood. Revolver or Magical Mystery Tour. George or John. Favorite Beatles movie? I saw Magical Mystery Tour once, never much cared for it. If Paul died in 1966, let me keep this new Paul 5th member of the band. Yoko gets a lot of hate. She's actually a solid musician if you look into her early 70s avant-garde stuff.[/QUOTE]
Favorite trivia High school friend of mine was convinced, if you steamed the White Album cover it would reveal a naked photo of Yoko & John. Now why the hell anyone would want to look at a photo of John & Yoko naked, is beyond me, but he ruined a good sleeve trying. LOL
LOL! That's hilarious. I've never heard that. Did you punch him out? Did you save the photos and the poster? John and Yoko released "Two Virgins" about a month earlier than the White Album. They were both photographed completely and frontally naked. The record company sold it with a brown paper bag cover with a hole that showed only only their face. I have that recording. What was your friend smoking? Sniffing? Ingesting? I'd say thinking but that's out of the question. LOL! What a great story!
My fave is Seargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Hands down. I am still honestly amazed at the engineering that was involved with that recording. Absolutely amazing. Let it Be showed us that the Beatles were for real. They could rock and roll with the best of them. The movie is legendary. Am I the only person to notice that Billy Preston didn't get arrested with John, Paul, George and Ringo during the "Roof Top Concert"? I believe the arrest was staged and off duty Bobbies were used so the Beatles could go home safely. Billy Preston may be the 6th Beatle. George Martin was a genius. I absolutey love side two of "Yellow Submarine"
Agreed! ... but Paul really died. Right? Afterall "he blew his mind out in a car" and Revolution 9 played backward says that "Paul is Dead!" What else do we need?
Is anyone familiar with Klaatu? Please don't answer with a Google search. I bought their first few LP's for a while thought they were the Beatles. Their 3rd LP was evidence that they weren't.
